HACKERS IN PVP ( Wall cliping )

zentruehazzrdub17_ESO
Today In Dawnbreaker pvp a hacker was able to clip threw the ground and keep walls to steal a elder scroll. this hacker came up threw the keep floor took the scroll and went back into the floor and sat there to taunt us then he came up threw the floor and went into a wall. then he came back up threw the floor again where he was killed by 30+ players waiting for him. something needs to be done ASAP about these hackers. in chat ive herd about the speed hackers but have never seen any hacking until today. myself im not going to pay to play a game with hackers. to me this is crazy how do you release a game these days with out a anti cheat?
  • zentruehazzrdub17_ESO
the hacking is still going on in dawnbreaker pvp the chat is going nuts the reply from my ticket was some copy and paste response that had nothing to do with the subject.
  • zentruehazzrdub17_ESO
plz help keeping this topic going so ZOS can not ignore the issue. 3 scrolls taken without a attack on a keep this is total bull.

Just because they don't respond to every single whining post on the forums does not mean they read every single post and are working on it.

Life does not revolve around you.

Not to mention it'd be 3million times more helpful to report the actual name through in game reporting.

Quit being so nasty. We have enough people on the forums being like that. The reason most people make threads like this is to bring more awareness to the situation and for others to see that they aren't the only ones with the problem.
I'll never understand why people are so rude to each other over a game.

Which Dawnbreaker? (EU/US) What fort/temple are they at? What is your faction? Did you get a name? When did this happen?

Hmm, you didn't provide anywhere near enough information for even the most skilled CS or QA employee to go off of and you wonder why you don't get a response. Next time you go to a mechanic make sure and take a bus then just repeat "but my engine's making funny noises!" over and over and see how far it gets you.

Well of course they are hacking in PvP and it's only going to get worse. This is why I haven't even bothered with PvP yet.

What, you think they are only going to use their invisible, teleporting, no-clip abilities for gold farming? LOL

Who didn't know they were going to do this? Anyone? Bueller?

PvP is pointless until Zenimax learns to combat the hacks.

I am surprised no screenshots were taken, and no one had a fraps handy..
Not that i think you're lying, but a dude in the floor floating around through walls needs to be seen.

Again the same thing happened in GW2.

I have been trying to get acknowledged by ZOS about PVP exp for a while now, with no luck.
It is likely that Cyradiil is not on the todo list.

Do you have any idea how many tickets just for hacking/cheating they get in one day? It's simply impractical to personalize a response to each and every one of them. That doesn't mean that they don't care or that you should not report cheaters.

They have to prioritize, and they have to have a solution in the barrel before they can really take effective action on something widespread. And they need to take steps to ensure the action is appropriate. If they simply banned everyone that was reported for cheating, there would be nobody left with an active account.

I've seen it myself. The trouble is that you not only need to show that it happened, but also that they are doing it on purpose. It's not exactly fair to ban someone who has simply fallen through the geometry, which anyone who has somehow been sucked into that blue oblivion under Tamriel will tell you can and does happen.

That said, snatching an elder scroll like that is a pretty damn good sign that it's being done on purpose. :unamused:

scrolls have been taken back. waiting to see if they do it again. i was not looking for a personal message from CS but to give me a reply about bugged quests means they did not even read the message that is what set me off this is the 3rd time i have gotten a reply from CS that had nothing to do with the ticket sent to them. and im sorry if you think im out of line. but hey im mad we all paid good money for this game and its not even 1 month old and hackers are killing the fun

The email response you get is based on the category and sub-category you select when you report a bug. Every ticket submitted needs to be reviewed to make sure it's in the proper bucket. They also do not respond to tickets, if they ever do, until they have a fix in place (it shows their hand if they do).

nope. the solution is NOT people reporting wrongdoers, but ZO needs to fix the game so this can not be done at all. Come on... people walking through walls and flying at will is GAME SYSTEM F***UP, not to blame hackers who abuse BROKEN SYSTEM.

Thing is that GAME SERVER needs to control where people can walk and how and what they do, NOT GAME CLIENT... as any self respecting hacker writes his own entire client or at least minimum patch to game client that allows him to do stuff that should not be done... so the only way to actually control anything is to have server control situation, not client or some safeguard that guards client or any antihack system on client side is complete and utter nonsense.

Well, if nobody gets a gate is open message, but get the scroll Is stolen from it's resting place, yes, there is defo something odd going on there. It is unlikely anyone actually witnessed it, since there was no alarm of an attack on the scroll until the time the thief took it :).

I witnessed this myself a couple of times, and there's nothing you can do, aside from trying to remember the name of whoever took the scroll without opening the gate, and report him/her :(

Today, still wanted by the developers she survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a bot problem, if no one else can bite you, and if you can find her....maybe you can hire The SQUISHY."

You forgot the unlimited dodge, and unlimited ultimate. These things are achieved using the same 10 year old hacks that allow the other things on the list.

It's why I haven't even bothered with PvP and won't until this is fixed.

This! Before I ever hit level ten I was aware of invisible people harvesting mats. I asked myself, Do I want to go up against this in pvp? The answer is no and I am v1 and haven't set foot in pvp land and probably won't.

It's a memory hacking tool somebody posted online. I reported the tool and how it works to Zenimax in private 3 weeks ago, they haven't done anything about it.

Collision detection is client side and there's no 'warden' software in ESO to detect what clients are running, so you can just turn off clipping to cheat.

PS: I also reported the tool people are using to fly in game.

A multiplayer game dies for less than this. Hackers rubbing the face of Zeni is one thing, the more subtle cheaters will poison the game forever after. Trust lost is never regained.

Really, If ZMO keeps being unable to fight against a 12 years old hacking tool I for sure wont renew my sub when it runs out.

Its utterly pathetic an AAA mmorpg in 2014 cant even handle people using memory injectors for noclip/speedhacks...

First time I saw bots using this I wrote people would end up using them to ruin others PVP. Here it comes.

For the interest of who would like to know, I first came into these kind of hacks (memory injectors for speedhacks, teleports) back in 2003 with the Lineage II release. There was a bot swarm as there is now, but NCSoft managed to autoban all of the people using injectors automatically after the first reports.

Since then, Ive not met a single p2p mmorpg that is unable to do so. Maybe ZMO has been living in a cage, or maybe they though TES fans would not be so evil..

That's funny... The other day on Dawnbreaker I saw 3-4 people siege a keep, they actually attacked it with Ballista's and all, but then they got the wall to about 2% and ran right through it...

I thought I was bugged, so I re-logged... but no, the wall was definitely still there, but they moved through it multiple times. I didn't report them, because honestly I cant tell what's bugged and what's not in ESO... I really have no idea. Nothing really works.

Indeed. This is old news, and we see the very same hacks being used today that we saw weeks ago.

There's no mystery here, other than why ZeniMax hasn't enabled anti-cheating algorithms like this:
IF player == below ground THEN kill player
else IF player > X speed THEN kill player
else IF player == above ground for more than X time THEN kill player

You have to accept, and be comfortable with the fact that a certain amount of cheating will always take place in online games. The more complex the game. The more things there are to be exploited. It is really a lose lose situation. The player wants a game with more freedom. That additional freedom leads to more anarchy.

The developers response was to shift as many tasks as possible client side. So they could allow more to be done server side. With every task allocated to take place server side. The performance of the game itself will suffer. Yes there are games where it is excruciatingly hard to cheat. Unfortunately those games do not give players a lot in the way of freedom.

Want to stop players from intentionally, or unintentionally shifting through walls. That is simple enough just treat the game like a two dimensional grid. Remove the option to actually jump, or more around on objects. I have played certain games that treated the game world like that, and while it did make such exploits as passing through walls very difficult. It was still possible to perform them. The only thing really accomplished was a degree of fun was lost in the bargain.

The point I am making is this. Be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it. If the developer opts to perform an inordinate number of checks server side to prevent such obvious cheats. The consequence could very well be a reduction in the number of players that can play in a given area, or slow down the overall performance of the game.

In my humble experience cheaters are a flighty lot. Since they are playing their games in god mode. It is easy for them to get bored since they have stripped themselves of the challenge. Either they move on to torment other players in another game, or they start playing honestly, because that is by far more fun to do. Trolling is like an addiction, and hackers are just hyped up trolls. It takes more and more to get their fix. When people get used to their antics, and start to ignore them, or treat them like a mere nuisance. They do get frustrated.

A couple months of putting up with a minor hassle is worth having a game that is going to let us do more things. Just like the gold farmer phenomena. Yes it is bad now, and so are the bots that come with it, but in a couple months time the market forces will bare out. This just isn't a game where you need to buy gold, or need to do business with other players. Further more the leveling is content based. Rather then grind based. It isn't like they are saving anyone from days of grinding in some dungeon.

Says the hacker that is abusing the system.

Does ZOS need to take some blame sure, but no the blame rest squarely on the people abusing the system. Why are they doing it, because they can. Any game can be hacked no matter how secure you make the server there will always be a way to exploit it.

You want this really stopped then they need to close off the ability for any add on as well. I'm guessing though if they did this then you would be the first one hear complaining that you can't run any mods at all.

It's a give an take system. If you want more user controlled functionality then you will have more hackers/bots/cheaters/exploiters. If you want them to be gone completely then your game will be so locked down you might as well make it 100% solo player and even then people will still try to exploit the system.

to me this is crazy how do you release a game these days with out a anti cheat?

To be fair most games have anti cheats and even those games are routinely hacked. While the botting and hacking in this game is bad, it's not nearly as bad as battlefield 4 with its oh so amazing punkbuster. Even World of Warcraft was hacked at MoP release and you had level 85 bots flying around farming for at least a month if not longer. (Flying was only obtainable at 90 for those who didn't play.)
That said hopefully they catch those guys and ban them soon and have a fix in place asap.

Now @GreySix's solution would be great for those more uncommon but still possible times you fall through the world and to eliminate the hackers doing this.
