Purchase More Character Slots?

I've made my first 8 characters, but would really like to create another 4 more, and was very surprised that there is no option to purchase more character slots.

I'm assuming this will be implemented very soon as there is a huge market for altoholics like myself willing to spend money on extra characters, and I'm baffled that there is currently no option for this when almost all MMO's I've played have this option.

By the way where exactly is the Cash Shop in this game? Has it not been implemented yet?

I wasn't aware that there was going to be a cash shop in this game, due to it being subscription based . However, there are plenty of pay to play games that still have the option to buy slots. I love alts, and I hate small character slot limits. 8 is far too few, especially when there are 10 races, and I want one of each at least, and both male and female characters if possible.

Okay, I've finally figured out how to manage my Bank & Inventory space for my 8 alts, which are each specializing in 4-5 different Crafts each sufficiently.

So I would like to ask ZeniMax again if we can please purchase more character slots, as I would really like to create another 4 more alts to plays with. Also it would be a good business decision for ZeniMax to give us this option, as it would make the very large amount of altoholics like myself very happy and would also be very easy money for ZeniMax.

Please add the option to purchase more character slots to the Cash Shop.

If you want more character slots due to lack of bank/bag space, then it's for the wrong reason. I think we need another method of storage in game, I'd suggest player housing, but that would be too hopeful.

NO NO NO. That would turn the game into p2w automatically because of the hirelings.

On the other hand more inventory space is certainly required.

Of course if you want more inventory space for money feel free to spend an extra $60 +$15/month.

To fix bag and bank space, all that they need to do is to give the bank specialized slots for cooking and enchanting.

Sorry I probably didn't make it clear enough in my post, but I don't need more alts for Bank/Bag space, as I've figured out how to manage them sufficiently, and currently just use 1 alt to Mule.

So I'm now ready to play the other 4 extra characters that I've been wanting to create ever since this game went live. B)

Yes you might have a point about Hirelings being too good and this might be an issue for giving us the option to purchase more Character Slots.

But as far as I'm aware Hirelings are only as good as your characters level, and the materials i'm getting so far with the Hirelings for my 8 alts (which are all around level 11) have been very basic, like Iron Ore, a Honing stone and a Trait Gem using Blacksmith Hireling as an example.

It would take me years to level up my 12 alts to level 50 so that their Hirelings are providing decent materials.

I know there are many people who want more character slots, myself and my family included. We are serious alt-aholics and make toons with every possible build. We would love to see a purchase option for more character slots in the shop. This is the only game I play that does NOT have this option. I am up to about 11 on LoTRO and 12 on Neverwinter. I don't even remember how many we have on TSW! Those aren't even all the games we play, ESO is the only game at the moment and the 8 slots filled quickly and I am at a point that I am not re-rolling anymore as I have them the way I want them but need at least 4 more slots.

They stated long ago that this was going to be a hybrid model, which would include a cash shop.

I also want more character slots, and hirelings and storage are not reasons. I am attached to the characters I have made, but want to do several more hybrid build ones. And would love to be able to buy at least 2 more slots.

    I have 8 characters a VR1, two level 45's, one level 32 and four level 24's.
A also have a second account that I am so glad I picked up. The second account (8 characters all level 6) has full inventory/vault already and i'm using the mail as storage also. Eventually I will liquidate all the crafting supplies (either vendor or discount AH) once I max my crafting but for now I am just a hoarder. ;)

This is nothing though. After 10 years of DAoC I ended up with 154 alts total (all 3 realms times two accounts, 308 total) that I had to transfer individually (one by one) when they went to one server Ywain. I am glad this has megaserver tech LOL o.O

I believe this to be their strategy indeed. Launch the game with limited this-and-that, creating a big need.. then after a while, bring these upgrades to the cash shop. And people go "shutup and take my money!!!"

"clever" way of having both sub and micropayments at the same time. "yay".

You can also play on the EU server (which is currently in the same location as the US server, we don't know when it will be moved), that gives you another 8 slots (and if you bought digital IE or preorder, another set of preorder goodies for that server).

I have friends in both the EU and the US that I like to play with so currently have 12 characters between the 2 servers - some of them are bank alts though, to store my crafting goods because of the small bank size. The bank is not shared between servers and you cannot mail between them, if you go this route you have to play it like 2 separate games (EDIT: same with guilds, friends etc, they don't transfer between servers). Oh also if you do that, for some reason you have to have the 30Gb game installed twice in different folders, fortunately I have a 2Tb HDD so that's not very significant. On the upside, if your own server is down for maintenance when you want to play, you can play on the other server with your other alts and any European friends you have made :D

There is a sort of cash shop in the ESO website (were your actual account is), but all it sells is the game and the upgrade to imperial edition.

The game doesn't have any other cash shop.

I'm Presuming that you want the extra 4 characters so you have one of each class in each faction.

(I always Presume rather than Assume because it's harder to make a joke out of)

    Have you gone mad?

Paying a monthly sub isn't enough money? Not to mention Imperials and another horse?

Let me tell you something: They can add more character slots without asking for extra money. They really can.

So you're already paying a fixed fee to play the game, and you're expressively asking to pay for more stuff instead of just going "How 'bout giving out free character slots so I play more characters, stay subbed for longer and you get more money?"

We're already paying them a huge sum of money. We're paying them enough money. I've actually payed them too much money, seeing as the € box price is above what other AAA games cost nowadays.

If you want to give ZOS more money, feel free to put it in an envelope and send it to

They could unlock with the achievement system, but I would advice against the cash shop idea.

There are games that use these systems and they are all bad like GW2. It creates a huge pay to win circle, especially with hirelings and crafting professions.

I disagree, hirelings and chances to get more upgrade material will never be "I win" option. Slightly (like 1-2%) improvement in stats will never do any signifficant impact anywhere PvE or PvP.

im thinking the same with the hirelings, if we are to be able to buy more alts, Im voting the hirelings skills needs to be starting from lvl 25 or something like that first, so people cant make alts just for that.

Not sure I really get the issue with hirelings, ok if you use more alts you get more hirelings, which means you can craft more. So what, you can only wear one set of armour at a time, use two sets of weapons, etc. So all you can do really is sell the extras, which brings in gold, which does very little (horses, repairs, and pack upgrades).

I just for the life of me can't see how this is pay to win, pay for a bit of conveniennce yes, but no major advantages shoot out at me (which is what pay to win means).

I'm not entirely sure why they didn't give us 10 character slots so you could have one character of each race on one megaserver. That would have been the perfect number in my opinion.

It seems the number of character slots differs per game. TSW (which started off P2P and is now B2P) starts you off with three with the ability to purchase more. WoW lets you make 11 characters per server with a total of 50 per account (overkill perhaps?).

Why can't they at least do like DAoC did? DAoC allowed 8 (I think) characters per realm per server. This game only has two megaservers, but I would think they should at least be able to give us 8 characters per alliance on each megaserver.

Shouldn't be hard to add alliance selection to the character select screen. Click on DC? Show your 8 DC characters. Click on AD? Show your 8 AD characters. Click on EP? Show your 8 EP characters.

    Seems simple enough to me.

And this should be for free, not a cash shop option. The sub fee should cover additions like this.

Agreed! This is what I want. I want more character slots so I can create more to play in different factions. There isn't just 4 classes; I really want to experiment with more class/skill combinations. For example, so I can try differences like templar-tank versus templar-healer and see which I like better.

Eight seems like plenty of characters to me, and I Do try out multiple alternates; but then I find out which ones I don't like at all and I get rid of them.

Also, ESO Does include an option to purchase slots for more than 8 characters.

Drive to the store, and buy another copy of the game.

No, give us more character slots.

Am I the only one who sees ESO as a premade F2P game?

Limited character slots, no bank space, expensive over top mounts, etc.

When they go F2P, they sure will have a lot of ways to make money.

I had 40 characters in City of Heroes across 4 servers, 32 on one server alone, it was all about trying new powerset combos.

Here, I could see a justification for the 12 character slots (total) that the OP is requesting. There are 3 factions times 4 classes equals 12 slots. You could even make an argument for races too, but really I think that most people will go with whatever is good for the class (note I said most).

I don't really see the need to mule anything (except the CE maps). There is enough storage and it's so easy to collect things that whenever I come to town I just provision what I can and sell the other provisioning things. I keep a stack of crafting mats in the bank (except provisioning and alchemy which I sell or give to guild mates) and sell off the excess.
