This patch is supposedly fixing the NUMEROUS gamebreaking combat bugs for gamepads, which us PC players have dealt with for almost a month now. I'd much rather the maintenance come as soon as possible, rather than being forced to deal with a completely broken game for an even longer period of time.

Or, perhaps, you could play on the keyboard for a bit - one day - so that all the folks that have that day off can actually just play the game at all.

    -khajiit shrugs-

Yeah, I'm just not buying the whole "Fixes should be further delayed so that I can play on my day off" argument. If it's just 24 hours, then surely you can just wait until the maintenance is done to play, right?

Khajiit isn't selling anything. Just making a suggestion.<snip>

That's really great that they rescheduled it - where I live there are a lot of people from EU cultural heritages who also observe Easter Monday (not sure how many play ESO if any) but I know they celebrate Easter the way they did before emigrating here - or in some cases as their ancestors in EU did if US citizens.

Official holiday in the US only? Maintenance moved regardless of any planned bug fixes.
Official holiday for pretty much of EU and lots of countries outside of it? Meh, who cares.

It was only recently they started to add UTC/GMT to posts in the forums after it was pointed out it was unfair to only use EDT and so many people were like 'who cares, just convert it'. It's very easy to be critical of the opinions of people here when you've never been affected by it. We just want a little bit of consideration.

Sure it would be nice if bugs got fixed at the first opportunity, we would all love that. They could bug fix tomorrow for all I care. The issue I have, that others also have I'm sure, is the double standards when it comes to holidays in the US vs holidays for the majority of the EU server and then some.

When they stop delaying patches for US holidays, then maybe more people will agree with you here.

Official US holidays are federal day offs, and require paying employees double pay to work those days. So, it is financially not an option. But also, it is a holiday for the employees.

European holidays are not that, so there is no business reason to move things.

I'm not sure where you're getting your information from but in the UK, and in many European countries, official public holidays are exactly the same as what you're describing. Offices close, some shops close, most employers treat them like Sundays and so for employers who pay overtime extra pay kicks in. What on earth would the point of them be otherwise?

Or are you saying that because ZoS -- a consumer facing business -- is in the US, who cares about their customers anywhere else it's just a question of when their employees are working? In which case, that's really not a very good look for ZoS to adopt to everyone based in what is presumably a rather large market for them. It doesn't exactly scream "we care about the people who pay for and play this game."

Case in point, when Sony's PlayStation services went down over a European public holiday weekend they went into PR salvage emergency mode. Because that is NOT what you want to happen at a time when all your European customers will want to be playing games.

I don't know about other European countries but Good Friday and Easter Monday are statutory holidays in the UK and require overtime payments etc if you work them.

Yeah, and that isn't the case in the US, where ZOS employees work.

In my opinion scheduling a maintenance on the European server on a bank holiday that is observed in most of the target countries shows that those customers are not the priority.

When the entire combat system is broken, delaying a patch by an additional day to accommodate a holiday would show that the customers are not the priority, in my opinion.

Since when is "Easter Monday" a thing. Didn't I read somewhere EU bank holidays were nothing more than them saying "yknow I want this day off" and suddenly it's a holiday? There's more to do in life than play this video game.

For info, there are 11 US federal holidays per year. In the UK, there are 8 public holidays. You can read whatever you like, doesn't mean it's true. In Europe more generally the number of holidays ranges between 7 and 16 depending on country (and region of country), with most in the 9 to 13 range. France has 11, Netherlands 7, Belgium 10, Italy 12.

You're in America (/playing on the American servers). Strikes me as highly unlikely you'd take the same view if it happened during a holiday of yours.

I'm glad that they delayed the maintenance for you guys. It's always nice when a business does stuff like this for its customers.

Personally, when I do business with an international company, I don't expect to interact with them based off how it would work in the US. When in Rome and all that. Still though, companies that go that extra mile to ensure that foreign customers get a good experience always earn repeat business from me and good word of mouth. A little effort goes a long way in making a happy customer experience. Glad ZOS recognized that and made the gameplay experience much better for their European base.

I don't mind waiting an extra day for the fixes, but as a reminder: some players cannot play with m/k and have been waiting for these fixes a long time, because they do impact gameplay a great deal--the same way people have been waiting to play on their day off. Consideration goes both ways

The servers can only be either on or down, unfortunately they can't do maintenance while people are playing like some newer games.

That would be the ideal, but my comment was not about zos being considerate, but about other players being considerate of the other side too, before making comments along the lines 'just play [mode that's not accessible to everyone]...'.

    Me too.

They could have gone ahead with maintenance tomorrow and nothing earth shattering would have happened. Just some short lived grumbling and resentment (personally I try to let go of that to the best of my abilities because it does me no good).

With full knowledge of this fact they still shifted it to Tuesday and for that I am grateful.

ESO is a multinational product provided for payment in Europe by dedicated servers based in Europe. It's not a charity. Customers are paying for a service. Any sensible multinational targeting customers in different regions needs to recognise regional differences and serve the customers accordingly. Anything else is amateur hour. You don't see Sony shutting down their global operations for Golden Week, for example (see https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Week_(Japan) ).

So I don't think there's anything to be grateful for this is really basic customer service. That they got it wrong in the first place was pretty shocking.

Other games do not schedule their maintenances on an Easter-Monday when loads of players have free time to play. It's every year a mystery to me again how this is completely ignored for ESO and the servers will just shut down for hours.

I understand that NA servers had issues that needed a fix soon, however with good timing this could also have been deployed before Easter and not while. Or tomorrow.

Well then... as a community we mention this for years now and nothing changes, so once more I see how important this is (NOT).

As someone who only had today to really catch up on event stuff over this long weekend, this is really disappointing. My time during this whole event has been severely limited due to work commitments and a family member being in hospital. Today was literally the only day I could sit down and play for any length of time. To see that maintenance is scheduled today, on Easter Monday no less, was just the icing on the cake of a truly rotten month.

    Greetings,

We have closed this topic as it was originally created in April 2023. In many cases, it's better to create a new thread on a topic that you want to discuss as opposed to bumping one that is rather old.

    Thank you for your understanding.
