PVP Content Request

There hasn't been any new PVP content added to the game in years. No new maps, game types, game modes, combat systems, classes, skill lines, etc. Can we get some news on whether new PVP content is in the works and possible timing on when new stuff may get released? It's hard to keep existing players engaged and logged in, old players to come back, or to attract new players without new PVP content to point to. To put it simply, a sizeable number of players are bored of playing the same thing over and over again for years. Adjustments to the meta by adjusting pre-existing things in the game just doesn't cut it anymore.

It has been nearly four years since our last BG map was added. Hardly even qualifies as content given that so few of us play/enjoy bgs.

They did say in January that there would be no pvp content in 2022 since so much of their development resources would be focused on the code rewrite. I do really hope that we receive word on this soon.

Sure, but in ZoS eyes that's generous. They don't even like giving PvP a thought when they churn out their ridiculous new sets, so I have my doubts about new content. Remember when the hammer was the first Daedric artifact being introduced? Now its the last.

I honestly think a lot more people come for the story and group content, which is why the focus is on PvE. Personally, I haven't played any PvP in at least 4, maybe even 5, years - and am perfectly happy about it, and have zero intention to play it again.

I'm trying to be optimistic. While historically there have been many letdowns in regards to pvp, it does seem like they've made an attempt to improve their communication in the past year.

Wish they'd remove the hammer. Every time the hammer spawns in prime time on PCNA, without fail, we see a severe drop in performance until it despawns.

Well, it's a bit of a stacked deck when one aspect of the game is neglected and left in terrible states for months on end with no time invested and another aspect is constantly receiving new content. It's pretty easy to see why PvP hasn't flourished in ESO....it's by design.

THe players are supposed to offer the dynamics in PvP. More content only spreads an already thin population. Players changing tactics then other players reacting to those changes should help keep PvP fresh.

If the performance issues were brought under control PvP would be thriving. Wouldn't hurt to change things up from time to time in the content available but new content probably isn't a good idea.

ZOS mentioned something in the beginning of year of us getting new PvP rule sets that would be changed up after a while, but it has yet to be implemented. Maybe we'll find out more on Friday or whenever they do the infamous Q&A.

    Favorite Foods and Potions
    https://media.giphy.com/media/3otPoTggaYFNd1FdAI/giphy.gif
    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

While I'm all for PVP content of any variety, most people I know are completely tired of BGs. The 4v4v4 environment has so many issues. Deathmatch is best played by running away from fights and always being the 3rd party in. Chaosball and domination both encourage fully unkillable tanks that don't actually want to "pvp". Capture the relic always ends up with two teams fighting, and one team just capturing relics on repeat. Having a high MMR actually makes your experience worse, because you need to wait longer for games and you end up fighting the same exact players every game. The leaderboards are pointless, because players with high MMR cannot even get enough games to be near the top and they are solely based on who plays the most and can get the most games per hour.

I'd be all for a massive rework, but realistically I think that time would be better spent reworking imperial city or cyrodiil, or developing a new PVP zone. I guess most of it is a pipe dream anyways.

I'm pretty sure the addition of new broken sets to PvP is what they consider new content. Which would be fine on its own if the sets didn't arrive onto live servers the way they did despite having been plenty tested and given feedback upon. The time it takes to deploy adjustments on stuff like Mara's Balm just takes too long, and pvp got pretty stale for that time as a result.

I also don't think it is good PvP design to make sets to counter other sets because then you aren't necessarily placing all proper pvp counters into players' skills but into how much gold they can spend on the guild traders, and that's not to say anything about new players' accessibility into pvp.

In my opinion what would shake up pvp is a new skill line, like say a new magicka weapon or something. Something which all players can engage with without grinding sets or spending absurd amounts of gold on guild traders only for your build to get nerf-hammered later.

We don't need more PvP content. We need them to make the content that already exists to work properly, raise the population caps back up to at least 150 players/faction, fix stuck in combat bug and skills not firing etc. They just need to follow through on their 3-4 years of "we're working on it" statements in regards to PvP.

I wouldn't mind some rule changes, maybe some changes to what keep ownership does....something to add some strategies to scroll placement beyond just run back distance...but we definitely don't need additional zone options to further fragment the population.
Bringing IC into Cyrodiil and fixing the bridges so we could ride to and through would be an amazing change that would completely change fighting on the map.

I admit that BGs in ESO never appealed to me, although I'm not sure exactly why. I used to love BGs in other games, but in ESO they are just meh. Imperial City has too many mobs for my taste, I feel like it fails to please both PvP and PvE players, even though it tries to mix both aspects of the game. Both BGs and IC could use some rework imo.

As for a new PvP zone/mode, Bravil could be a good lore-background to create that. It is located in the south of Cyrodiil, we can see it in the game but we have no access (yet, I believe). It is said to have a huge Ayleid complex underground that could be explored as well. Maybe they could try to implement a new PvP mode there, idk. Would be cool to see a topic with the community's ideas!

Totally flabbergasted by gamers who say we don’t need new PvP content. What if people had said that about PvE?

Imperial City was a flop. It was lack of new creative PvP content that caused an exodus of PvP veterans after 2015. I remember the great PvP community we had prior to the release of IC. Miss it a lot. Will we ever get that again in any game?

Large-scale battle made ESO revolutionary in 2014, but we haven’t had a new large map in eight years. Infinitely disappointed. Felling let down beyond infinity.

I think most think that we don't need PvP content because the PvP community already seems neglected into such small numbers that it would be a shame to further fragment it.
If PvP got the same attention that PvE has gotten in terms of content we might have a much larger community at this point, but so many have left at various points due to frustration or boredom that I don't know if it'll ever be as active as it once was.

    Yeah, it's not lol.

It's fun to get on the PvP ranked leaderboard, but it's not the same kind of engaging content as Cyrodiil, Battlegrounds, or the Imperial City.
