Don’t want to be forced to fight Naryu in the new prologue quest.

I am a woman too so I get how you feel but I think it's more like sparring than like punching or beating her - just there's some engine limitations. I do wish they didn't have that option like Summerset doesn't but in Elsweyr you punch an old Khajiit monk with the same intention. I think they wanna teach you controls without combat if you are a new player.

Adding to Minyassa's comment, this game is full of combat. Even if all you ever plan to do is pick flowers and fish, you will have to engage in a fight at some point. Block, light attack, heavy attack, bash/interrupt, those are the elementary fundamentals of how to protect yourself from getting killed in this game, or at least avoiding damage. I've seen a lot of players die because they quite frankly failed to understand these basics of combat.

Don't think of it as being forced to fight her. Think of it as being allowed to live after you put hands on her.

Naryu is a teacher, among other things. It's not just a responsibility but the most practical thing for her to do to make sure that someone she's recruiting to assist her is capable of fighting, so she teaches you the basics. Martial arts teachers invite their students to hit them all the time. It's the only way to teach certain techniques. Allowing you to knock her down is her way of teaching you to follow through. So you are not "hitting a girl"; you are sparring with your martial arts teacher, per her instruction. She is very much in control of the situation and is in no way any sort of victim at any time during the encounter. You need to trust her.

To expound on this with personal experience: I have had female martial arts teachers. I'm not a huge guy but I was still raised with the traditional honor code that suggests that hitting women is unmanly. But dishonoring your teacher by thinking of her as a delicate flower instead of respecting her experience and position is worse...and she'll put you in your place (on your arse) very quickly if you approach the situation with that attitude.

I understand you:) In any way I meant to dishonor women or female martial art teachers. In your case you decided to go to have martial arts lessons, it was your choice.
This all is about asking for a choice of not fighting with particularly her by knocking her so hard that she falls in this particular situation.

Thank you, I agree about not wanting to punch an old monk too, it's right to teach how to fight, it would be great if it was a monster though.

Hi, I really liked the new prologue quest where you are on the boat and have to escape from slavers. But there is an unavoidable part where Naryu asks you to hit her to “teach the basic fighting game mechanics”.
I made a big orc character and had no choice than to punch Naryu to complete this quest. I didn’t want to do it and felt so bad after. I am a girl an seeing a big orc guy hitting a girl made me upset.
Could you please make an option of not fighting her to at least have a choice? Or make us fight a skeleton or a hostile monster?
I understand the gender’s “equality” but this forces people to hit a girl (when some don't want it) therefore teaches that it’s perfectly ok. Please, for making it really equal and fair at least give us an option of choice.

I totally understand where you're coming from but this isn't a fairytale world. You're a soldier, a warrior or a mage, someone who fights for not only your own survival but the survival of others as well.

Take it from this perspective: How many soldiers would lose their lives simply for refusing to hit/hurt/kill a woman or even a child (yeah reality check, folks). And Naryu certainly isn't someone who can't take a hit. If you're still in doubt, look at all the Nord women fighting and actually wanting to get hit.

I understand that, but later I can make a female character or just choose what to do but I wanted to talk about this particular part where you just start the game and you have to face this situation with Naryu and can't go further if you don't do it. The first approach to the game is like this and personally it felt so bad, I don't know if i'm the only one that would choose to refuse to hit a girl having a strong male character, I hope I'm not:(

You’ll meet women - npc or real - who will hunt you down. Get used to it. Or get used to dying.

Looking forward to seeing you in Cyrodiil.

    Love, one of them........

    illogical, the fact that you....

So.... how do your parties with selene, molag kena, et al go?

Trust me, you try to solo molag kena and your big orc will be ....hell if you tried to solo the female atronoch...

This is a fantasy world...and as I saw in pvp and pve... no matter how much my stamina big boy attacks... there is some stupid heal or shield or something that turns it to junk...

    Stop underestimating people...

People know their owns strenghts and weaknesses...for you to undermine them...prejudge them and think they can't handle it...

I see many are trying to make this into something much bigger than it is. Once again, I wanted to bring attention only to this particular moment in this particular quest. For example I didn't know that in a different version of the prologue quest you had to punch an old monk which is the same. The topic was about having to learn how to fight with a character you don't want to hit. This was the very first approach to the game and it was upsetting. It would be nice to have to fight a hostile monster or a character that at least seems to have your same strength.

You'll be hitting a lot of girls in this game, wheter its bandits or dungeon-bosses....

The point people are trying to make here is that your male character is most definitely not stronger than Naryu. And frankly, operating under the assumption that girls will always be weaker than / lose a fight to a guy and that such a match is inherently unfair to the girl, is kinda going against the whole feminism discussion if you ask me.

    Hardly a new prologue.
Also a complete non-issue. She is training you. You are a level 0 nobody, she is a CP100000 assassin. If you have a female combat instructor you have to attack when she says attack, so long as it is IAW UCMJ.
