Error 200

Authentication server is apparently down? I can't even login, nor can the game (not the launcher) load announcements. However the launcher is reporting news, despite making no difference in whether or not I get this error (IE: using it to login, instead of directly to eso.exe.)

EDIT: ...and now it reads error 201, so I disabled the indicated startup programs mentioned, deleted the files mentioned the the "Login Codes and what they mean" thread, rebooted, repaired, no change.

    Greetings @Absynthe‌

As the issue is linked with connectivity, particularly after updates, we recommend that players ensure that both their launcher and the ESO game client are added as exceptions to their firewall. Players can also check our forums here, as this error can also be linked with server maintenance on our side. Simply restarting the router/modem can also help with general connectivity issues as well.

Error 201 may also occur when something is blocking a recognizable response from the game servers. This block would typically be caused by a firewall or anti-virus software.

Please check that you have added both eso.exe and Bethesda.net_Launcher.exe to your antivirus/firewall exception rules and that your firewall has not blocked access through the following ports:

    •TCP / UDP Ports 24100 through 24131
    •TCP / UDP Ports 24300 through 24331
    •TCP / UDP Ports 24500 through 24507

If you are still having trouble after ensuring your connection is open, please submit a support request so we can take a look at your account and see what's causing this for you.

Well I'm no modem wizard, so I have no clue how to set it up. As for the windows firewall (Windows 8.1), I added exceptions. It might be important to note I only started getting this problem now. It was fine yesterday.

    Hi @Absynthe‌ !

If you go to the homepage for the model of your router (It should be written on it or on the bottom of it) there should be a manual for how to set up port forwarding.

Thank you again, and if this doesn't help please feel free to contact support via email!

I can't even access the modem.... Honestly, I give up. Everything was fine last night. I submitted a ticket as asked (for all the good it will do me, getting the same info parroted to me.. again.) Sorry... frustrated. Messing with the modem screwed it up, now it won't even accept my password.

I had a 201 error after the last update. Took me awhile to figure it out, because the game ran fine on my laptop, but not on my gaming rig. I would have never thought to disconnect my comcast router/modem, unplug it and put it all back together again, but I did anyway, and it worked.

I tried that as part of my attempt to fix it. Ironically the problem fixed itself without any further efforts on my end. Which seems to be how it is every time I have an issue with this game.
