Keep getting disconnected

Hey, I've never had an issue staying connected to ESO, however today I get booted frequently. The game is not freezing, I just become unable to interact with anything, can't crouch, use abilities etc. It's classic disconnect. I am not having a problem with my ISP as far as I can tell, streaming Pandora in the background. Is anyone else having this issue? It happens constantly, like every 5 minutes, sometimes within a minute of logging in.

Still happening, can't stay connected more than 1 minute now. NA server. I changed my password just in case it was someone logging into my account and booting me, not that anyone has my password. This is in PvE by the way.

    Hey there @jftrowellb14_ESO,

Do you happen to have an anti-virus or firewall program running? If so, give a shot to either adding an exception to that software for the Elder Scrolls Online Folder at C:\Program Files (x86)\Elder Scrolls Online, or temporarily disable the software while playing the game. Ensure that you restore the programs prior to web browsing if you choose to disable them.

If that doesn't help, let us know and we'll be happy to continue assisting you.

No anti-virus. Like I said, I have never had connection issues, just started today. As far as I can tell it is isolated to ESO.

Problem seems to have resolved itself, stayed connected for over 30 minutes no problem.

    Hey @ZOS_GaryA‌

After the 1.4 patch, I've been experiencing almost the same issue as him.
Even after the 1.44 patch released today the problem persists. I'm at Thornblade NA Server.

Sometimes it's not a complete freezing/crashing. Players or npcs start to move, freeze, move, freeze... Seems like an unstable connection.
Sometimes it just freezes and go back to the logon screen.
    Sometimes it crashes without messages.

Closed all unnecessary apps (anti-virus, dropbox, etc) and add-ons. Rebooted my router and I'm cable connected. My ISP connection is fine.

Is there anything else I can do?

    Thanks

    Hey there sbc.witch,

Absolutely! The next thing to try would be a direct wired connection to the modem as opposed to using the router. This will check if the router is having an issue with ports or other security settings.

When you plug your computer into the modem, you may need to restart the PC in order to receive a network connection. Once you get connected, try logging in to ESO and see if the connection improves. If so, there are some steps we can perform to assist with the router settings. If not, there are some other avenues we can pursue.

+1 to the above. Shortly after update 4 I've been having similar (particularly noticable in Cyrodiil) with everything slowing down and then stopping as more things are going on around me. Then get booted to login screen. Have tried rebooting things, etc. Modem reporting nowhere near full bandwidth use when things slow down.

I've been dropped from the server 4 times in the last 30 minutes ... It keeps telling me I have been dropped for reaching the server message limit yet I have sent ZERO messages. Not a one. What the heck??????????

I am constantly being kicked to logon screen OR losing connection to server in game where I can only walk around (I cannot use skills, sprint or anything else and cannot zone). I must kill the client completely and log back in but if done too soon I get a server error even though my internet is back up and working just fine. I have to wait 1-2 minutes before attempting to log back in.

I have run full AV and Malwarebytes scan, reset modem a few times, repaired ESO client, updated sound driver, reinstalled nvidia driver and updated to new version yet this continues to occur every 15-30 minutes.

What appears to happen on my pc is that the ESO client bogs all network communication for a brief moment. Web pages, streaming music and the game lose internet function. This does not occur when the game client isn't running. Overall the game also continues to run poorly patch after patch. I now have to reduce my graphics settings slightly to meet the performance I used to get (used to run everything on max but that is impossible now). Oddly my framerates rarely dip low but the smoothness in game is reduces and often is jerky and hitches. I have tried numerous graphics settings changes to smooth this out but nothing seems to offer noticeable improvements. I keep most everything on nvidia default for now other than specifics for my setup like multi-cpu and single lcd setup.

    Very frustrating.

Edit: I just got kicked again to logon screen. Internet chocked out for a second once again. When trying to log back in I get:

    Error 301 (3:1:494:90098)
    Unable to connect to server.

    Hi @ZOS_GaryA‌

I've done some troubleshootings and the lag / connection freezing issues only happens during the night when the number of players are higher.

It seems a server and a common issue that others are also experiencing.

    Thanks.

I've had it happen during the day, early afternoon, evening Pacific, or even 3 am pacific. Sometimes when using wayshrine, other times just walking along boot anytime--- loading screen and non responsive, no warning/error message or anything

Yup noticed same starting to happen since last patch. First starts lagging and skills and commands do not seem to work then it goes so that for small amounts of time all around me freezes but I can still move, no skills work. Finally it seems totally lose connection leaving me to the world still and even when trying to quit it says you can quit but your char will remain in the world. Also sometimes it drops the connection back to login screen.

Has now happened every night since the last patch with the same scenario. Of course I'm sure that at same time as this issue increases on me the number of players on the server increases also.

I've also been experiencing increased difficulty staying connected, especially in Cyrodiil. My issues include:

    - Lag spikes (I can move freely but everyone else is frozen in place) which may or may not recover (if not, I usually end up in the login screen);
    - Random disconnects (back to login screen, with or without an "unknown error" message);
    - Crashes to desktop (which sometimes trigger the ESO bug report, other times it doesn't, just the system message saying "ESO has stopped working").

I've had lots of disconnections and lag throughout today. always to the login screen with an error 301, and have difficulty logging back in. I have no firewalls or anti-virus active, on the desktop, so I always have it hardlined. I just happens at random, but has been most annoying since it has been my main cause of death today

I have been getting disconnected all today and yesterday. I was once kicked for "Spamming" when all I was doing was "walking" and not using any abilities.

There were two instances in Thornblade in which EP got full disconnect and AD did not, and as such was able to wipe us at a few key battles. I observed there was also one instance in which AD appeared to have disconnect issues because 8 of them were standing in a stealth zergball "afk" for my caltrops. I revealed them with inner light, caltrops and one dodged out and fought back but the others just stood still.

I cant even play the game at the minute, I log in and within a minute I'm back to the login screen. rinse and repeat. Started with Update 1.4 like everyone above, About a minute before I get kicked I know it's about to happen, I still have access to mail and menu but cant change weapons, sprint or use abilities, it's purely client side content from then until it crashes. I've never had a single issue until now, I've always thought I was lucky. I might reinstall the game and see if that makes a difference.

    Update on My comment above.
I've done a full Virus Scan / Malware. I've checked the event logs and eso isn't writing to it. I've tested playing with and without any add on's. I've put My internet proxy settings back to default, so now I've got a direct connection with my ISP, which has an insane speed.
None of the above have fixed this. So, I've moved my screenshots into another Drive and deleted all of ESO. I will Re-Install and see what happens.

Same problem here. Normally I have very few connection problems, just a bit of lag in peak times here and there but that has skyrocketed since the last patch, and today it has been almost completely unplayable.
I got one good run of about half an hour (with lag but no actual disconnects) but the rest of the last 8hrs or so I have been trying to log in every 30min or so and 90% of the time I am disconnected in under 30seconds (the other 10% of the time I usually make it to about 2-3minutes before getting the boot).

ZoS dont want to admit there is something wrong on their side since patch 1.4. They keep giving useless advices that fix absolutely nothing. Why in heaven I should start messing with my router and such when everything exept this game has been working perfectly for ages ?..

I've removed all ESO game folders and re-installed the game from scratch, just in case it was a client side bug, emergent from individual Updates. The problem persists, I get 10-15 minutes of game time and then back to the Login screen.
So that's it, I've done everything from this end, the issue is with ZOS and their infrastructure, which is insane as it was so stable for me before, Now I'm just paying £8 per month for a game I cant play. Nice

For me it isn't localised, I've had it in Craglorn, Normal Zones, vet zones and it doesn't seem to be linked to the players around me as once I was in a dungeon on my own and it still happened.
I might try a different character, and see if that makes a difference.
Edit: It does not, My DK is getting kicked just like my Sorc :(

Pandora is accessed completely differently than an online game. There are no ports or additional network settings required.

One suggestion that worked wonders for me last year when I was setting up an Xbox is to make the device have a static IP on your home network if the router is capable of it. This way when you are shutting down and starting devices, another device does not take the IP and its port settings. If your computer or console will always be assigned the same IP it will have those port settings guaranteed. If the router is not set to do this, the computer could be given another one without the settings.

I had this issue with matchmaking, online games and MMOs. It would work fine some days and others it was a mess. I realized one day that the console was not on the IP that I had set the ports for. I made it static and it has been fine since.
