Character face is bugged when I play him, but fine in character select.

As you can see my character looks distorted in the game. Also it feels like in the character selection screen his eyes are closer together now than they were, but not entirely sure about that.

This is only happening to one of my characters, the others don't have this problem.

You can tell he is not happy with this change!

Character: redguard on US megaserver named Arshad Satakalaam.
My ingame nick is @Fyendiar.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Nobody else is having this issue?

I know some have the scars, hair and such changed since the previous patch, but that is a different problem.

Looks to me like your character is just pissed off when he is in game. Maybe he doesnt like the person playing him

Yes, I have this issue with mine as well. It looks as if the anger animation got "stuck" or something.

Ironically, I used to have the same problem with some of my Oblivion characters.

I did have this issue but somehow it now seems solved. My character did look more angry ingame then in the character selection screen.

I will keep checking when I can find the issue again I will screenshot it. I hope your issue will resolve aswell.

lol, sorry but that busted nose. I know others are having this issue and body markings as well since a patch. I notice a difference in my characters ingame/char select but it happens to be very subtle.

It's not just him looking angry and thus an emotion getting stuck though, just look how crooked his nose gets as well. That is not part of any emotion.

edit: @Evergnar‌ I seem to have typed this post just as you did yours. :)

I have this problem randomly. But you can change that angry face to happy by doing /welcome emote.

Thanks for the tip, using a helmet until this bug gets fixed though. He is full heavy armor and found a nice combo of Khajiit, Nord, Imperial and Redguard motifs on him that looks great with a helmet. :)

This happens to my character after using a *blacksmithing* station. You can 'reset' the facial expression by using an emote like /pray (relogging works too, but that is kind of a hassle). If you use an emote like /laugh, a smile will also persist on your character's face until it is changed again.

Hey @fyendiarb16_ESO‌, we are aware of this issue and the team is currently working on a fix. Their faces are just getting stuck in an emote (what'd you do to make him so angry?!) ;)

Besides the obviously screwed up nose, I'd say your character looks better in the second pic... Kind of reminds me of the poster Shepard from Mass Effect.

This is an issue that should actually be fixed soon. Hopefully that'll turn your frown upside down (in-game and IRL :)).

Thanks guys, that is great news. Making him this angry is done by just drawing whichever weapon he is holding, maybe I created a pacifist by accident? :disappointed:

Do emotes change the nose as well though? Kinda weird if they do, at least in the way shown in the pictures.

I 'm having this problem as well on all of my characters. I played last night and had to log off and on to correct. I thought it odd that the nose is changing as well (going from no bump on it to having one).

My Breton Sorceror has this problem. It's because he's surrounded by elves. Curiously, he was back in Rivenspire the other day and apparently felt better as he was back to normal, but now he's angry once more because he is again surrounded by elves.

I have a Dunmer that looks angry, too, but that's because she's a Dunmer and they're always angry.

Woooa! How come this minor issue gets a reply when the massive problems of Stamina v magicka builds or the clamour for clarification on vet level mob difficulty gets ignored!

2 diffrent answers from ZOS within an hour or 2 and a week long 13 page topic about vet mode difficulty and not one zos post....

When there are so many game-breaking bugs in this game and many people cannot reliably connect or stay connected, minor cosmetic issues seem entirely 'first world problems' really, don't you think?

oh it seems this is major issue.. major enough for 2 zos posts by 2 zos posters.. where as minor stuff like 13 pages of folk saying the entire horrible vet grind needs looked at gets utterly ignored for a week

and huge threads where the entire templar population are asking for some sort of reasurance that zos are even looking at their concerns remain unnoticed by anyone at ZOS for about a month..

its a slap in the face.. cos when they post in threads about trivial nonsense like this it just reminds everyone suffering a long standing major gameplay issue that they do in fact read the forums and are choosing to ignore the big issues..

seriously if my staff displayed such utter contempt for the customers they dealt with i'd fire them all and re hire folk with an ounce of common sense and training to match.

Well, there is the very likely situation that this is a problem that would not get fixed by the same group of people working on the class imbalance issues or is that out of the world thinking? Modelers will suddenly do the balancing of classes perhaps? Don't be silly and act as if you actually think this would be fixed by the same people working on the problems you guys are mentioning.

The reason I expect that this got 2 ZOS replies is most likely because it's something that, as they say, will be fixed soon. So they could say something nice about a problem, however minor it may be for people that pretend to still be playing if the characters looked like blocks without faces if only the class balancing was done to their liking.

It's the same nonsense you get from people demanding fixes before new content and such. Are you/they really that clueless about how a game is made or, and let's face it because this is the most likely cause... you just want to lash out because you are angry about some of the game's problems and look for anything to latch on and cry about.

Be happy that they say something, be happy that even though this may be a minor issue, the game is slowly but steadily getting fixed.

The character is actually distorted in the character selection screen - stretched in vertical direction and compressed in horizontal direction - in world the character is always a bit shorter and wider than on character selection screen.

But it was worse some months ago - pretty much any character had the same height in character selection - at that time tall characters got shortened and small characters stretched to an average height - this has changed, but there is still some distortion.

And yes, the eyes are closer together in character selection - that is the compression I talked about in horizontal direction. It is not much but it is there.
