I'd like to see in a future patch a quest for the ability to switch factions..make it paramount!

As others have said, its not possible to switch factions, however if you only want to see content from the other factions, if you hang on with your current one until 50 and beat the main storyline quest you will be put into one of the other factions.

You won't be able to pick which of the remaining two you get to do first though, it just puts you in the next depending on which one you started with.

Aldmeri Dominion -> Ebonheart Pact -> Daggerfall Covenant -> Aldmeri Dominion

And if I recall right, you will then move on the one faction you haven't experienced yet so you'll be able to do all factions if you are willing to play them trough.

Which also makes PvE. content for another characters useless, unless you want to have at least one main on each faction for PvP. that is. At least that is what I will do.

I am very bothered. I rolled a Dark elf - to be in the same faction that my son and his friend are - at their request. I was already in the mid teen levels when they noted that I wasn't in the correct faction - although my character race IS from the correct faction, instead I was in the faction with the orcs and the bretons -- which was NOT my intent, nor did I even think it was possible. I presumed that by rolling a dark elf I was going to end up in the faction that they are listed in. This was very disheartening. Not being able to switch, since I only have x time to play, makes it even more so.

Yes, you're not the only one that has gotten caught out on this. I assume you have the imperial edition of the game that lets you choose your alliance independent upon of your race. It can be a little confusing, as I think in the character creation section the alliance options could be made clearer.

You have a pre-order Explorer's Pack, right?

This happened because when you have such an account the character creation screen defaults to the first faction and unlike normal accounts it doesn't change faction when you select race .. same happened to me the first character I rolled.
