I was standing next to a potency rune in a deserted location and tried to pick it up but had a full inventory. I got called away for what I thought was going to be a long task so I logged out but then didn't have to do the job so I logged back in within about 30-40 seconds and the rune was still in front of my character but had changed to an essence rune.
Just made me wonder does anyone actually do this to get a particular rune they are looking for, by which I mean find a rune in a quiet location and log out and then in again to reroll the rune?

✭✭✭✭✭Works with other items too, not just runes. In fact, you could have taken the rune, log out and back in and taken the 2nd one.
That's how people were farming motif books for the first several weeks before the prices went down the drain ...

In essence yes it is just instance switching.
Was just wondering if people were using it specifically for rune collection because of what occurred as per opening post. Seems like a waste of time to me to be logging in and out just for a rune but have seen some posts about difficulty in finding Kuta runes so thought I would just ask to see if there were any people doing it.
