That's great. Too bad it's a poor example that was incorrectly applied to the situation.
The devs would be the experts here. With regards to the guilds, we can take this in two directions.
First direction:
The guilds contain people who are also experts. This would then be two experts talking while those who "want to know" are being left in the dark.
Second direction:
The guilds are not experts but instead are a small % representing the whole. They are the ones that "want to know" but the information being passed along is staying with the % that is doing the representing and not spreading from there.
However I would better equate your home example with the following:
"You are not however going to spend the bulk of your time talking to people who [don't play the game]"
The fact that so many of the gamers are being left in the dark is equivalent to people who are home owners and/or having building experience being left in the dark.
It's simple really. These are the official forums and this is where such communications about the game should take place. If they want to restrict posting on the PTS section to just these select few, fine, so long as everybody can still go there and read it.5 -

✭✭So basically this explains why a game that was presumably at least partly aimed at capturing the offline TES market as well as existing MMO players is becoming skewed towards being a cookie cutter MMO with every change.
Sadly us offline players do not have vocal guilds with established connections to make our voice heard & will never get to talk directly to a dev... So the game will gradually be less and less TES online and more generic MMO... blah....3 -

Jess and all of the Devs. and Forum moderators there is nothing more dangerous to a community then a "perceived slight". Take the time to go over your training again and think about how you might feel if some managers within ZOS decided to "COMMUNICATE" general information about your work environment in separate doses; inadvertently providing a more comfortable work situation for some but not others. Then what would your expectation be of those Managers after it was discovered.
I know I would apologize as a Manager and insure it does not repeat itself at any level.
Rule of Thumb 101 if you tell SOMEONE you tell EVERYONE. Secrets cause mistrust and poor communication causes breakdown of personal trust.

Nerfs are the devs hard at work to produce their vision of what this game should be. Notice I use the word "their" instead of "our", a distinction some people just cannot grasp.There was ample testing in beta that was ignored followed by even more at launch. What came of it? Nothing but nerfs, misleading patch notes and countless bugs and broken abilities have still not been addressed.
Guess what? any bugs that have not been fixed yet are not easily fixed.
