Got an email from ESO support about blocking spammers by typing their name out.

Yeah no, I'm not typing dqwhd89qwhf9dhqwef into my user block every day. Its a pain in the ass and more often than not the game says it doesnt exist. Give us an option to instantly block someone while looking at the message.

Right click there name ->menu appears->select ignore->fini

Not in the mail system but you might be able to use copy and paste. I usually report the mail ones and don't get too many of them. Also if you have addons use the spamfilter ones to greatly reduce it.

The mail has had a "report user" button at the bottom for as long as I can remember. It's mapped to F1 by default. You still can't right click the name from the mail box, but F1 does the same thing.

Mail spams been bad afor a few days.

Love the "you can ignore them" thing that the ticket response mails say.

Yes, I got replies to "report mail" things telling me to ignore them.

Getting a reply is hit or miss but I wish theyd sstop replying if theyre going to reply with drivel.

Not in the mail system but you might be able to use copy and paste. I usually report the mail ones and don't get too many of them. Also if you have addons use the spamfilter ones to greatly reduce it.

From my experience, confirmed a minute ago, the 'displayed' name, and copy/paste highlighted name are almost always different anyway.

The problem with reporting the mail spam is that there's no real clear indication that the report goes anywhere but into a null file when we send it. The fact that there's no explanation regarding whether and when we can delete the spam from our mailbox indicates that that part of the equation never occurred to the powers-that-be in regard to dealing with us, a user group they don't care to inform as to proper procedure and protocol.

Considering the fact that I keep getting junk/spam mail formatted the same way over and over, with the same wording and coloration of the site being touted - I'm left to assume that they are either powerless to filter their own internal email, or just can't be bothered to even bother.

When you say "bad," what do you mean?

I've gotten maybe 1 message a day for the past 3 days, if that. It's hardly enough of a bother for me to write customer service.

Also, OP: ignoring a gold-seller via mail is even more pointless than ignoring a gold-seller via chat. They don't keep those accounts for more than a few minutes. Ignoring them just wastes space on your list.

I got 10 of these stupid mails this weekend, reported each 1. What would be really nice is if when you report it automatically would block them for you. I know other games that do that so surely they could figure it out?

Used to be I got them if I spoke in zone.

Woke up today to 4, never said anything. Yesterday woke up to 8. Yes, 8. And the day before that...

I get them through the day tok.

I get gold spam mail every day. You do not need to type out the entire name to add it to ignore, for example the gold spam was sent by grt345htynlpoui, just typing grt will bring up the entire name to ignore, without you having to type it all.

Every mail spam I've gotten I report. Even on Sunday the most I got when I played was I think 5 total maybe. That could be on the high side. But none of them were by the same gold seller bot. They did all advertise the same website though.

I don't think I've ever gotten a mail by the same bot twice.

We need some sort of filter system so we can just automatically send mail containing certain words, phrases or collections of letters and symbols to some spam folder where we can then auto report them all with a click of the button.

Can gold sellers scan who is in a certain area like the bank? I've noticed recently that I got gold seller email when I went into the bank.

has always been F1 to report from the mail window, and it automatically copies/pastes their name into the report window. been like this forever.

Well, I guess you're just unlucky.

Either way, the OP's point is completely invalid. You aren't getting multiple pieces of mail from the same account, so putting them on ignore is totally pointless. Report the mail. Delete it. Move on.
