Pricing Index

I have yet to find an accurate, reliable index of the general costs of items, especially regarding crafted gear (especially especially in sets), motifs, and the like. Any thoughts or sites/places/people that you find reliable for an index?

Yeah, seriously, how lazy is it to need an external price list? This is specifically what ESO is trying to avoid with the lack of an auction house.

Charge what you want. If someone pays, it's a good price. If not, it's a bad one. Welcome to economics 101.

Why in the world did the OP get an LOL vote? Anyway.... moving on...

Follow zone chat and take note of what others are selling their wares for. The prices fluctuate wildly at times and can be amusing to watch—a bit like the stock market. Sell your items accordingly.

As for crafted gear, figure out the current cost of your materials then add a bit for profit.

Figuring out the cost of materials: As I stated above, zone chat is helpful. Ask for prices or just watch the WTS ads to get a general idea of the going rate for the materials you'll use in crafting gear to sell.

Joining active trading guilds can also keep you updated on the prices of materials and items.

Figuring out profit: Take into consideration the level of the item(s) you are crafting and your own experience as a crafter. In my opinion, the higher the item level, the higher the price. Gear crafted from set crafting stations should be more as it requires more experience in your field.

    Happy trading!

haha, yeah I have seen someone pay about 3000 gold for a basic motif (Redguard, Breton etc) when they are generally sold (at the moment) for about 600 - 700 gold, so be careful of scammers and don't just take one persons word on it talk to everyone and ask yourself whether it's worth it for your playing experience.

If you want to know the value of different items, sit in a trade hub (Stonefalls for AD) and just watch the WTS and WTB posts. Over time you'll see what stuff is really selling at and what the outliers are.

I agree that a changing economy is necessary. I was wondering if anyone was keeping up with these changing prices as a good resource. Base prices for crafting material would be particularly useful, but I'll definitely just watch chat when I can't determine something's price.

There's some pretty good information on this website. If you drill down a bit, you can find out how much and how often a lot of the items are going for.

Thanks, this is exactly the sort of thing I was looking for.

I would be careful about using that site because of its low sample size... From what I've seen so far, prices can vary a lot between guilds. I've seen as much as a 50% difference on some items. It also looks unable to keep track of armor and weapons because of name variation. I approach each of my trading guilds as a market of its own and base my prices on it.
As a general rule, guild store prices will be lower than zone prices.

Isibis is quite correct, in that the sample size is fairly low. You certainly need to take the info with a grain of salt. If you were looking for an absolute value, this isn't it. On the other hand if you wanted a reference as to what the value range might be, then this info can be a useful guideline.

Of course the sample database would be better if more people dumped their Guild Store data to the database, but since it's not a simple automatic process, you have to do it manually and that's too much trouble for most.

That's a good point. I'll keep that in mind.

The store has A LOT to do with it. Vet runes that never sell at 200gp in one of my stores, get snatched up within minutes at 250gp in one of my others...learning what sells best where is important.
