Only ZOS has the stats and they're not telling. It's clearly had a drop off, but that's to be expected. It could be, it might not be it's impossible to tell. I won't be recommending to any friends again the way it is now, but I hope I'll be able to in the relatively near future.

No, the number of issues this game has at its current state indicates it is still struggling and losing the battle
This game is a perfect example of why its a bad idea to pre-order, or ever play an mmo before it has been out for at least a year or two.

If the original plans for ESO at launch is what we actually got at launch, than I will eat my (snip) covered hat.

You actually hit on something here. With the frequency of MMOs launching for an early money grab (ESO and Wildstar recently) developers will train gamers to do just what you are suggesting. In the future I will be more cautious of pre purchasing a title for an MMO game.

A good example of I should have waited is SWtoR. Really good game right now.

The thought of it did and that is why I initially left the game. During the beta process they made it no secret that microtransactions were part of their business model and future for the game. I like to think I am open minded enough however to give something a try and I had yet to give a F2P game a go.

Going back and buying a 3 month sub also gave me access to the expansion pack, space pvp and other features in the game that they have blocked off if not subbing.

It is well worth the price. I have actually used their in game store to purchase cosmetic items and there are people everywhere displaying the same. Pets, mounts, armor, etc.

I am really enjoying the game atm.

I honestly have no idea what all the complaining is about.

This is an excellent game. I've experienced a total of 4 technical problems or bugs since I've started playing. There are some GLITCHES, like lag for example.. but those are issues that get worked out over time. If you don't have a tolerance for glitches, why play in the PC genre at all?

Not to mention, anyone who thinks THIS is bad.... I can't imagine they have much experience in the pc gaming world. The initial launch had to be the smoothest launch I've ever played in, and I've played more than a handful of mmos at launch.

Just my two cents. If you're interested in MMOs, you should be well aware of the fact that there is a lifecycle to development. The first year is always choppy, and no mmo has ever reached huge perfection in the first few months. It usually takes some time.

Cool. If ESO does not pan out i might go back and give it a try. I hate F2P games, just like you do, so if it does not bother you, what the heck, how bad could it be to try it.

... so preorder has gone from "save money and get additional perks by supporting us/ensure us you buy/pay upfront" to "let us charge additional money infront because you are hyped to game and we screw you 1 month after by dropping" ?

    .. but wait ... i remember .... i encountered that before :)

    i only complain about:

Preorder Imperial: EU: 79€ (=107$), US 79$, Brazil: 139 Real (=62$) .... and all keys were valid all over the world

and: EU payed about 30-60% more and STILL HAVE NOT a physical server in the EU

Game is decent, just depends on what the market wants. I think the market would like a little more balanced pvp/pvm, but other than that the game is fine. Also the balance issues aren't huge (you can still do everything you want with any class) so that's good. One class is just op, no classes are really underpowered. Should be fixed in a couple of months and then the game will be the best recent game. Wildstar doesn't stand a chance honestly. Game's ***.

Retail prices mean nothing given they could mean anything from 'Things are going great so let's hook even more subscribers' to 'Abandon Ship' and all points in between. It's pointless mentioning it let alone arguing about it.

Prices dropping doesn't mean anything. (because it all could be a mass sale)

Population dropping doesn't mean anything. (because this is normal for new MMOs)

The game still being buggy as hell doesn't mean anything. (because it a new game)

All the complaints about tiny banks, no AHs, etc doesn'tmean anything. (because haters have no clue)

Reports of people being let go doesn't mean anything. (because that is normal for contract workers)

The consoles were delayed a year doesn't mean anything. (ummm... they want to perfect it first)

This list of problems doesn't mean anything:

    • The power gap between levels in Cyrodiil.
    • Lack of end game
    • lack of a real auction house.
    • Near empty PvP / The pvp is the most badly designed pvp i have ever played.
    • Lack of feedback from devs
    • impossible to find any roleplay because of the way the phasing system works
    • Bugs/crashes
    • class balance is utter crap.
    • 5 guilds system sucks
    • Inventory GUI is horrible
    • being forced into solo play quests
    • No way of changing skill morphs without a full respec. Also, crazy respec cost.
    • 15 minute long 'raids'
    • Alchemy... just all of it... the fact that only 3 potions are of any real benefit, the fact that 2 completely different potions have the same name just because their 1st effect on the list is the same, the small amount of reagents...
    • Lag
    • Rapid Gear Decay.
    • Overall direction of game
    • Reasoning behind changing things because of bots
    • megaserver/phasing/sharding system
    • VR1 - VR12 Farming (Anomaly, Balmath etc)
    • Broke abilities and passives
    • intimidate/persuade but it does not translate to the other players choice if they cannot select it...
    • instances of grouping are sometimes not working
    • Memory leak problems
    • Bad grouping tools
    • the 'quick'slot system designed for consoles
    • Tiny banks / Inventory space minigame taking about 25% of my play time
    • guild store gui is bad /guild store does not work
    • Unresponsive combat
    • the lack of direction and interaction from/with the devs
    • Bad guild banks options
    • Lack of an real open world
    • not seeing enemy players due to them not loaded on your screen
    • Can't reply in mail
    • No dueling
    • poor atrocity that is VR leveling. / would like to see more possibilities to level from v1 to v12.
    • No underwater swimming
    • No law system
    • I don't like the part where I can't login for 4 days because of Error 301.
    • No housing
    • Lack of user friendly GUI
    • No options for floating names
    • No way to preview gear on your character before actually equipping it.

(Because ZOS will have it all fixed in a few weeks.)

I don't know why anyone thinks this game is in trouble.
