Secondary class possible?

ArchLegend
4 classes are a bit of boring with only 3 lines of skill for each class. What I am suggesting is, we could have a sub class on each character preferably at Vet levels since the difficulty is higher. Having to complete a certain line of quest gives player an option to choose an extra skill line from a particular class. This can make the game very interesting and a much wider range and flexibility of combination of skills.

Also, rather than people have to camp spawns of werewolves or bloodfiends to obtain a specific skill line, it should be presented as a line of quest as in Elderscroll: Skyrim so that the players can skip the part to buy a bite or long camping. I believe dev group has a reason to put it the way it is right now, but the current situation is rather being not very convenient for most of the players.

I think subclasses or prestige classes based on having certain levels in different skill lines would be awesome. Something that builds on already existing skills/"spec" and enhances the character based on skills most often used/role most often taken would make for an excellent organic enhancement to the character.

    For example- Arcane Archer
40 points in bow and/or a certain combination of sub-skills at IV or morphed

40 points in Storm Calling or Dark Magic and/or a certain combination of sub-skills at IV or morphed

40 points in light or medium armor and/or a certain combination of sub-skills at IV or morphed

I was about to suggest this. Being able to select 1 or 2 skill lines from the other classes would totally break down the "class balance" and issues. All that would be needed would be a mechanism to obtain the additional skill lines and a balancing of the individual skill lines to make each viable in their own right.

I think most of the advantages of a secondary-class system is lost once the focus isn't so much about the class but the weapon/armor/guild skills you use... which everyone has access to regardless of class.

Once I started looking at class skills as supplementary skills, it made much more sense. What I mean is that your class already IS your secondary class and it would be redundant to have yet another layer.

Each class gives you three classes to pick from within the classes range... eg. Siphoning and assassination... usually people mix a bit with those classes getting some benefits here and there.

They just need to give us an option to change classes in-game. Like add one more shrine so we can "respec" our class.

It's probably not an option to let you use skill lines of different classes on the same character due to the balancing issues.

Hmmm, I hadn't thought about taking skill lines from other classes. How badass would it be to have access to Ardent Flame, Storm Calling, Assassination, and Aedric Spear all on the same character? Who'd care about class balance when everyone's OP? Talk about a world of cookie-cutter clones! HAHAHA

Humor aside, the OP brings up a good point on how character skill progression might be handled going forward. Would it be better to simply add abilities to current skill lines, add new skill lines (Thieves' Guild/Dark Brotherhood), or both?

Now for a philosophical question: Is adding new skill lines the same as creating sub-classes?
