    Most useless thread is useless.

    Tautologies are useless.

So did you just get done with that intro to Philosophy class a couple of weeks ago? Bet you feel awesome about being able to actually use that word in a sentence!

Oh, another one. I just got through explaining exactly why grammatical tautologies are useless.

You might also want to add a few ESO words to make this conversation on topic, according to the forum rules. Use plump rodent toes.

I love plump rodent toes, they are so chewy and crunchy at the same time.

What? Quoting one of their quests isn't enough? ;)

I don't know, the whole grammar/philosophy showdown from the previous posts took us on a weird turn. Might be salvageable if they started their posts with 'According to Sheagorath" or "Sheagorath sayeth". That might help keep the thread running.

Your premise is flawed. Even if you ignore the likelihood of another catastrophe befalling us you haven't accounted for the possibility of interstellar travel. ESO could be played until the end of the universe and scientists don't know if it even will end. Theoretically, your descendents could play ESO for eternity.

I have to disagree. While the universe is expanding, the contents of said universe are not. There will come a point where entropy and everything being spread out too much, will mean the universe will become uninhabitable. Of course this would be trillions of years into the future, and Humanity is unlikely to last that long.

Oh and for reference one trillion=1,000,000,000,000, if you assign any other value to the word, well that's nice but I meant 1,000,000,000,000.

Why should it be? I didn't curse in my op, or threaten anybody. I tried, as best as possible to communicate my feelings about my experience, including how much I enjoy ESO despite its flaws. And yet, people are getting hostile and nit picking me to death. It's cool. I can handle it. The fact that no one has actually offered a cogent counter-point is telling. Am I over-reacting? If so, how and why?

It's no so much about your original post, but about the derailment of the original topic. Lets steer it back to your initial intent, and it will keep it from getting closed because it was no longer constructive. Just trying to help, is all.

Not bad advice, and that's likely what many are doing and will be doing. The hope of course is that ESO is still around and has made sought-after improvements, so such folks can resubscribe a year or so down the road.

^This. I am worried that if they lose too many subscribers and get too much bad press that they won't get new players and the game will die.

Look I would love to discuss cosmology with you, but as I have been repeatedly reminded this isn't the place for science and philosophy. Read Lawrence Krauss' A Universe From Nothing. He talks about what might eventually happen to the universe.

Eventually, the sun will go nova. We'll all quit by then at the latest.

Actually according to scientists the Sun does not have enough mass to cause a supernova, however it will be more likely to expand into a red giant once it get's starved of hydrogen and engulf all the inner planets including Earth. However unless Zenimax offer a subscription length of over 5 Billion years then this won't affect you.

Meh, I like Sheagorath's explanation, stating that the sun will explode into a gazillion rolls of cheese, and everyone will be begging to get hit with the Wabbajack. Less dramatic, I think.

I don't know, slowly expanding sun versus molten cheese. That's a tough one to choose between.

So, back on topic. How long would you put up with the game in the state that it is in, i.e. quest bugs, animation bugs, server lag. What is your threshold, a month, two, six, until the end of the universe?

Personally I don't know, the thing about patience is you never know how much you have, until you lose it.

I will wait until I lose my patience and hopefully they will fix the lag and other bugs before then.

I am really not having a problem with the bugs. Granted I want them fixed, but I am limiting my play time to about a couple of hours a day, so the bugs don't impact me as much. Reading the patch notes and seeing some of the fixes gives me faith that the game will sort itself out, and it's just a matter of being patient.

For my part, my wife and I are avoiding solo-only instances in the hope that the developers will allow cooperative play by the time we're done with all the side quests.

That may take a while, since we're playing ESO only every other day (SWTOR in between), and then only for a couple of hours per day. But if they still insist on enforcing solo-only dungeons on the main quest by the time we get there, we'll most likely unsubscribe.

ESO needs to at least be able to get their hooks in people for longer than the 1-50 journey or it's dead meat.

Creating an excellent framework for having fun and then not letting players have fun is just plain idiotic.
