ZOS Has an Arena, They Just Don't Want You To Play With It

WILL THE PVP WE SAW AT E3 BE ADDED TO THE GAME?
Updated 06/11/2014 03:22 PM Published 06/11/2014 02:38 PM

We set this up specific for shows, such as E3, so we can get small groups working together for a quick PvP-style match.

While it’s a small taste of what our massive PvP is like in the live game, we thought it would be a fun way for folks to fight with / against each other with the limited amount of time they have at shows like this.

This mode isn’t in the live game, as it’s something we specifically setup for small, quick matches. However, ESO is a living, ever-evolving game, and if we see lots of requests for smaller style PvP combat, it could be something we add in a later update.

https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/21118/

So basically what this means is, they have developed a PvP Arena and display it at shows. The feature is already created and ready to go.

ZOS just isn't letting their subscribers have it.

Really guys?

How many threads have there been asking for this feature. Enough is enough, just unlock the content.

Good, it would ruin this game.
Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

Give them 60 days to fix current issues, then add the arena when things are running smooth.

It would be inappropriate and irresponsible for them to release it before, unless they rick roll these current issues and get them fixed

What? Like it's hard to place some spawn points down?

They aren't keeping it from us because of lengthy development time required to make such a system. They're keeping it from us because it wasn't in their original vision for the game.

Lol, "original vision." I find it hard to believe that such a thing exists when they're willing to make massive changes like removing their starting zones from the game based on a bit of forum whining and a few negative press articles after one weekend.

Fact of the matter is, their current PvP system is failing to satisfy a lot of people. Refusing to add other types of PvP won't convince people who don't like AvA to start playing AvA, they'll just go play a different game.

You just made me so happy.

I was worried that they'd wasted development time on a feature that would totally wreck balancing and homogenize builds across the game.

Am I wrong in thinking ESO is/was designed to be largely PvE and story-based first, and PvP second?

I wouldn't oppose a small-scale PvP 'arena' but definitely do not think it's needed. Though I would rather the focus be on a solid PvE game, followed by improving the [IMO quite good] PvP, before thinking of adding a further PvP option.

Besides, I much prefer people don't advocate greater focused PvP simply because it quickly deteriorates into elitist trash-talk (best builds etc.) which has potential to spoil the game. Worded a bit strongly there but you get what I'm trying to say; let ESO be 'Elder Scrolls Online' rather than 'elder scrolls ONLINE!'

So go to a different game? I don't understand why you bought a copy and paid for multiple months of this game when you dislike the PVP in Cyrodiil. Not to mention that for every one of you who will leave the game because of no arena pvp rewards, there are also people who would leave if they added them. You can't please everybody, I'd rather they work on pleasing the people who came specifically for their original vision(Cyrodiil), than to tack on an arena pvp in some desperate attempt to keep a few subs like you. If they do add arena, I want it to enhance what is already there.

The whole starting zone change actually enhanced what was already there. I personally was confused the first time I played in beta. I arrived in Stros Mkai thinking that was the main zone, and a little disappointed how small and basic it seemed. When I eventually got to Daggerfall I sighed in relief when I saw the REAL main area. They changed the game to make it more obvious they are starter zones, and they are entirely optional.

How exactly did that change compromise their original vision? It seemed like a case of the developers being too immersed in their game and not realizing new players would be confused.

There have been several other threads with many people who dont want this.

Just because "you" want it doesn't mean it should be put in.

That being said I honestly couldnt care one way or the other since I dont pvp (much). All in all the more things to do / content the better, whether I personally intend to partake in it or not is irrelevant.

Just dont go assuming everyone agrees with that, because recent history would prove you wrong.

I would think that Zen will implement dueling before an arena system.

Well ya they obviously experimented with it while making the game and for some not so obscure reason they probably decided it was a bad idea.

They didn't remove their starting zones the just made a strange change to start you outside of it. The complaints against the starting zones made sense but their actual change to it DID NOT as it would have made more sense to keep us in the starting zone and then give us the option to leave it if we desired.

I am all for diversity if it helps the game. And Cyrodiil as it stands barely rewards skill base gameplay just those that have 12 hours a day to sit around gathering hemorrhoids. But i do believe 3 v 3 is disastrous i would much rather see dueling. With a betting system in place for those who just want to spectate That would be amazing. Aoe bombing wouldn't work in this setting and alot of varied builds would come to the surface here. Cyrodiil promotes one thing Aoe bomb the enemy into the ground thats it. No diversity involved really.
