Ban Horses

My only issue with plugs is their use within gated towns, since that flies in the face of prior ESO lore.

In prior TES games, you could ride plugs in open towns.

You know, something just occurred to me. Whatever happened to the whole idea of grouping people on shards/instances with other people who share similar interests? I remember the devs saying something way back during the beta about how people would fill out some kind of survey defining their interests in the game and that they would be placed into instance shards with other players that had similar responses. i.e. the Role Players would end up together, the solo players, the more group oriented players, PvPers, etc.

Something like this would be perfect for people complaining about mounts in towns. Put all the RP/immersion people into their own shard and let them not ride horses in towns as much as they want.

Yeah, think that would be an excellent idea, but most arguments against your common-sense idea usually take the form of the above.

I would like to ban horses from all towns and cities.

It's a deal—if in exchange, I don't get dismounted in the world every time my horse steps in a puddle of water!

Nope i disagree , i lvl mine all the way in speed up to 50 , because i prefer to go faster.

If you like to walk OP , walk by yourself, keep me out of it.

If you like to power-game that's fine. I like to immerse myself and RP.
This is perhaps the most unintelligent argument about mounts in cities I've ever seen. Case closed.

That was never an issue in Skyrim, but then again the horses didn't vanish into thin air upon dismount in Skyrim either.

ban other players, because seeing all these knuckle heads running around in town is breaking my immersion.

ban jumping in town, because it is unrealistic for jump spammers (bunny hoppers) to do it from one end of town to the other without ever running out of stamina.

ban everyone that does not roleplay in chat or brings up any "real world" issues or references, because that is breaking my immersion.

    there... that should do it.

@Blackwidow If he didnt want it "Bashed" then he shouldnt have posted it in a public forum, and I was stating my opinion just as much as he was. Me saying I fail to see the point of this post and stating that it is, in fact, a moronic thing to complain about, Is my opion. So bugger off because I cant stop you or anybody else from posting on here but I can post my opinion as much as the next guy.

So...this is one thread trying to get horses banned, there is another one here
( http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/110017/ban-walking/p1 ) trying to get walking banned.
We still need a thread trying to get running banned.

Make the riders dismount and walk/run around on foot.

Work stations should be pedestrian only. No horses allowed.

Uhhh you can't work at a work station while on your horse anyway.

Yeah, the things are annoying in town and there's a precedent for barring horses from towns in Skyrim

    What?

If you were able to ride your horse into gated Skyrim towns, let me know what hack you used.

A mod called "Open Cities Skyrim" which had some loading issues but worked pretty well. And there's a difference between modding and hacking. And the only reason they couldn't get past gated towns was because those gates were the same as entering an interior. This was for loading reasons and had nothing to do with lore.

Roger that on the mod piece, but from what I recall we couldn't take plugs into gated cities in either Oblivion or Skyrim, and as far as I'm concerned that establishes it as part of lore.

Moreover, since the mod was relatively simple, the developers apparently intended plugs to be left outside the gates, else they'd have allowed it without mods.

Moreover, since the mod was relatively simple, the developers apparently intended plugs to be left outside the gates, else they'd have allowed it without mods.

First off, the mod was far from simple. I regularly checked the progression of it and the author had to overcome many difficulties. This is because the interior gated towns had a level of detail that was too much to load in advance for most systems. When the devs created the interiors of the towns, there were large gaps between the gates that the author of the mod had to fix, while also adding working gates to these areas. It was very common for your game to crash when approaching a town like Windhelm because there was just too much information to load.

Which leads to the next point. The only reason cities and houses have doors with loading screens is because of memory limitations. This has nothing to do with lore at all. If you can't find a reference to horses staying out side for a reason, then you have nothing. I mean, we also never had horses that appeared out of thin air or an MMO style spell bar. Does that mean they changed the lore? No. These are game mechanics and have nothing to do with storyline.

I'm stunned that there isn't any horse poop in cities.

I'm also stunned there isn't any people poop either, because I haven't seen a bathroom anywhere. However, we do have Khajiit and Argonians running around and they do look well-fed. :\

Because it does not look right.
You do not get people galloping around cities and towns on horseback.
You do not get people on horseback using work stations.

But you live in a world with elves. And daedra. Why can you suspend disbelief to accept Argonians but not enough to tolerate someone riding their horse across town?

Yea. Apparently, children are born at adult size and people don't have bathrooms. I assume they go behind trees. Or even better, they use magic to clear their bowls and drop them into Oblivion. That's why the Daedra hate them so much.

You're right - cities need more horse poop. As for people poop - that's what the forums are for.

You know , i dont usually care about immersion in MMOs , so most of the stuff does not bother me , but the kids do a bit.

Not because they are not in the game mind you.

But because they add NPCs that look the age of their parents or that behave a bit weird for their age because they represent the "son/daughter".

It is weird to have a grown man/woman sometimes act like it is half if not less their age.

Wow, that really proved me wrong. Nice job. Lots of facts in there that I overlooked. Also, the game doesn't have children so I guess the lore is that people in Tamriel didn't have sex at the end of the second era, right? Also, no one had the ability to dive under water, and enemies would stop chasing you if you went swimming. That must be in the lore too. Interpreting game mechanics as being part of the lore is just ignorant.
