I'll be fineFor those of us who truly enjoy the story and read it like a book, it's not boring.
Well Zenimax had it easy with the lore seeing as the series is 20 years old. One immersion-breaking thing though is some of these books are from the future. Maybe Crassius Curio is actually several centuries old by the time Morrowind takes place...
Concur with what another poster wrote, in that I'd like the ability to keep and read the books later at my leisure, vice reading on the spot while mobs respawn and attack.

I'm not sure if Eidetic Memory is still bugged (most of my books appear to be there now), but you already have that ability.

- I started listening to quest givers and learning the story of what is going on.
- I started to read lore books.
I then went on to think, maybe there are a lot of bugs and issues, but maybe ZOS had a strong focus on delivering a beautiful MMO world with a rich RPG lore.
Perhaps ZOS has paid attention and realized in all MMOs, class balance and bugs are a constant, but good stories are few and far between. Have you noticed how fixing quests and story progression has taken a priority in many instances?
Maybe they DIDN'T expect fans to superficially disregard quests and story lines (except for when they are broken) to such a monumental degree.
For all the haters and power levelers who are rocking this like an MMO FPS, I highly recommend trying to play it like an MMORPG. Yes, there is no immediate "look at me and my shiny gear" rewards, but there are good stories.
Like ANY relationship in the entire world, if you focus on the negative seek to find faults, you will find them and they will make you a negative and unhappy person. If you focus on the positive and seek good things, you will find them and they will endow you with the patience to weather any puny storm of negativity.

Edited my original reply to state that since that skill is gained contingent upon completing the Mages Guild quest, getting it is a no-go until the developers stop forcing solo-only play in those instances.nerevarine1138 wrote: »nerevarine1138 wrote: »Concur with what another poster wrote, in that I'd like the ability to keep and read the books later at my leisure, vice reading on the spot while mobs respawn and attack.

Is that a skill? It's part of the final reward you get from finishing the Mages Guild questline. You access it the same way you access your Lore Books in the Journal tab.

You are being demeaning to the majority of the player base thinking you are the "smart" player going slow assuming others rushed and skipped content when in fact they simply did ALL the content faster than you. By the time you get to Crag there may not be enough around to do the content reliably and you could miss out on that part of the story thinking others have rushed to it depending on how slow you are taking it. Being slow does not equal intelligence or being smart.

Yes, we all get it. We have read your thread-hijacking posts about solo-only instances in every. Single. Thread. We are all aware that you're not a fan of the mechanic. You can feel free to send the developers feedback in-game, but I'd bear in mind that most people don't mind (and *gasp* even enjoy) the solo content.

Ah, my personal stalker is back!
Yeah, my reply was based on my initial observation that I didn't want to remain in-place, reading books, while mobs respawned around me.
But feel free to continue your irrational stalking and diatribe against me.
What I mentioned ties in directly with the subject of the OP, your like or dislike of what I posted notwithstanding.nerevarine1138 wrote: »nerevarine1138 wrote: »nerevarine1138 wrote: »Concur with what another poster wrote, in that I'd like the ability to keep and read the books later at my leisure, vice reading on the spot while mobs respawn and attack.

I... what?
This is the first time I've mentioned your penchant for making every thread a thread about solo instances. Because after reading the 30th post about it, it gets old.

Edit: Just found a write-up on that piece, and it appears one must first finish the Mages Guild quest in order to use that skill.
Since the Mages Guild quest contains solo-only instances, my wife and I are avoiding them out of principle (we refuse to solo quests at all).
I wrote nothing about punishing at all. As a work-around for a serious flaw in this MMO, we're simply avoiding solo-only instances, until they fix the flaw. If they don't fix it by the time we run out of things to do, we'll unsubscribe, as many have already done.nerevarine1138 wrote: »Concur with what another poster wrote, in that I'd like the ability to keep and read the books later at my leisure, vice reading on the spot while mobs respawn and attack.

Don't think you're punishing zenimax with this. You're punishing yourself with missing out on a fab story. But each to his own.
That is strictly your opinion, and I and others vehemently disagree with it.Forcing solo is always better than forcing group. Not everyone plays/can play/wants to play with others, but everyone can play solo.
I fully exected the current level of buggyness, inbalancing and exploits. It would have been stupid not to expect it in any new game, much less an MMO!
I also expect the roughest parts to last up to 6 months after launch (we jsut started the 3rd).
And it will never be solved fully, for that MMO's are just way to complex. They are about as complex as your average operating systems and look how buggy they are when new...

The whole premise of the game's storyline is that we don't have a soul because it's been taken but we get back to Tamriel in our bodies anyway. What would be the repercussions of losing one's soul? In ESO, not having a soul seems to make no difference. It would have been much better for one's soul to mean something.
But it does; it allows us to do certain things and go certain places that normal people can't.
