Ability bar improvement idea

One of the reasons I prefer PC over consoles is due to the ability to have a more customizable UI. I personally believe games should make every attempt to balance "fun" with "fair".

I understand why ESO has a limited ability bar and I am NOT advocating changing the spirit of "5 abilities per weapon slot".

However, many of us like to have the "right" set of tools for a given encounter. As it stands right now, that means swapping out abilities from our skill window to our weapons bars... This back and forth is a time sink which could be remedied and this is my idea:

When you select a weapon, the weapon bar that appear below would be a carousel like what Iphone users have when you go to mobile web sites. You can ONLY have one active at a time per weapon (combat would lock it and there may even be a CD afterwards). However, after combat, if you wanted to change your weapons skills to a different "pre-set" you could easily and efficiently do so.

This would allow a greater use of one's skills and encourage people to try new things. It would NOT change the fact you can only select from 5 abilities per weapon in combat. It just makes things easier when you want to customize how you want to handle an encounter.

What do you (the community) think? Maybe this has already been suggested... But this system would also easily port over to the consoles as well.

Not that I condone Zenimax basically pawning off everything but the most basic of functionality to the mod community, but there is a mod (several now I think) that allows you to do just this. One of the Wykkyd mods, Outfitter I believe.

Yeah, addons make this possible and it is great. You need to be out of combat, but you can have a "Tank" set, a "DPS" set, a "DPS against Daedra/Undead" set, a "Killing a mob of 4 or 5 enemies" set, a "Killing one tough enemy" set, etc.

Edit: forgot my favorite swap-in skill bar. The "I am trying to level up these skills so I want them on my bar when I turn in a quest". :-)
