Reroll into light armor and staff

I have 3 Veteran characters (Sorc, DK, and Templar) as well as a level 20-something Nightblade and they've all got real strengths if you play to them. . . which I do. The problem with the difficulty in Veteran is that I feel like I HAVE to choose the strongest builds in order to be able to play successfully, so I understand why people who are building sub-optimal builds get upset at nerfs. This isn't a simple game where you can slightly adjust the strength of a class because certain builds are overpowered without that change rippling all the other builds that aren't as powerful. It's a tough task for Zenimax and their current strategy seems to be to aim nerfs at builds that show up on Youtube doing insane solo feats (which is why the Nightblade recently got nerfs despite an effort to buff the class. . . some smart players figured out how to build it just right to be able to solo world bosses meant for raid groups).

Anyway, I answered the really bad poll that didn't have an option for, "I think things are okay" with that I shifted to light armor and staff on my DK, but the truth is I never shifted. If you look at the amazing buff on Coalescing Blood, you'll see that it gives enough bonus armor and spell resistance to easily hit the soft-cap. As a result, I have always used light armor for all the dps buffs and simply had Coalescing blood (a great self-heal and an amazing buff) on the tree. I mostly use sword and board for shield charge and then I hit everything around me with Searing Strike (it doesn't hit that hard, but it has a very good DoT, so if you hit every mob with it before finishing them off, a lot of the DoT gets to work - also, it is a mana efficient skill). After that, I use Stone Giant to knock things down and finish with normal weapon strikes and reapplying Searing Strike if they are near death. For my other two slots, I have Inner Light from the Mage's Guild for higher spell crit and Coalescing Blood for an emergency heal with an outsanding armor/spell buff. . . I've been using that build since very early in the game, and my other spec DOES use a destruction staff and Volcanic Rune to start fights. . . but I only use it when I'm in groups or fighting public content that is zerged like Dolmens. The reason for this is that in a group tanks gets ancy if you are melee and you are hitting everything with a DoT (also, it can get you killed with a bad healer or drain your Magicka self-healing), and for zerged content, ranged has an easier time getting enough damage for kill credit. . . it's lower dps, but you hit things before they die super fast.

Those two builds are probably my best on any of my characters.

The repeated nerfs to tanking skills via 1h & s and dk skills. We arent survivable, we arent tanks. And before anyone says l2p, roll a 1h & s dk or a 2h dps dk on PTS and take on at level content and see for yourselves.

    Really?

I'm taking out content 2-3 levels above mine with a 1h+S DK, takes 4 enemies at a time before I get close to dying, and I don't claim to be very good at the game.

I just adjust my style. Using lava whip as a main (double hit morph) , power bash etc . Also using Bow as well interchanging .

It's fun as he'll not as powerful as stick and dress builds but I'm not one for cookie cutter

Reroll into another spec (not light armor and staff)
I plan to re-roll and put all of my skill points into whining.

Hopefully they will nerf the game to where you can't complete anything without a server-wide grouping. This way no one can complain that some one is OP because everyone will be in the same group and instance. The theme music will change to Bobby McFerrin's "Don't Worry Be Happy"

Seriously though, as a DK I could solo almost everything. I had a nice skill selection, worked out good combo strategies and was very happy with my character until the last patch. Now I struggle with two skeevers. I feel forced to re-roll my character to spam low cost abilities or run around in a dress and sandals beating things with a cane.

I love finding the right combination of skills to match my personal play style. I am not a drone or bot. Let me play the way I want to. Just because light and staff is OP doesn't mean I want to play it.

I wish ZoS would stop catering to the whiners, if some one is OP and you want to be OP too just copy their skills and leave the rest of us alone who are simply happy playing the way we are.

....And the troll sticks the landing after a perfect dismount from the soap box.

This is the summary of the entire situation. Things change and people need to deal with it because it has been evaluated to help with the balance. If they nerf something else on DK, I really could care less as long as they don't go overboard and start making the class skills do less damage than general skills.

Its not one change, its the whole set of nerfs, we've been nerfed and nerfed because of LA and staff builds, ruining viability of anything other.

Even though everything but destrostaff sucks I'm sticking with Dualwield, even though its horrible.

Whats funny is i think every single case of "OPness" in this game is caused by destrostaff and destrostaff alone. Used to be shield but that was nerfed.

And you're probably not in anything above VR3 zones either. A very big difference.

I dont react kneejerk to things like the FOTMers do. While you all constantly frustrate yourselves by trying to get the "i win button" spec every single patch, I continue on my merry way, kicking ass and taking names with a double spec designed to make me badass no matter what they do.

    Sorry for your loss.

What was the epic advice constantly given to NAs when we came to forums asking for our fixes? Oh right. "This is clearly a L2P issue"
Considering DKs are still on top... It is quite true.

Yeah, It's still the strongest class, if I made another char with a different class it would just make life harder for me. Yes, DK is my main (and 5 of my 6 alts are also DKs). I haven't changed anything in my playstyle.

Aww yeah men, horrible stuff they doin' with DKs. I was so pro when I only had to smash my face once on the keyboard to win. They nerfed that though, and forced me to roll my face left and right too, after the smashing. More feckin' nerfs and it looks like I'll have to use hands now. Damn devs, they destroying my class.
No worries though, I re-rolled nightblade 'cos it's gonna be next big thing once they buff it up as planned. I'll be able to win by smashing my face on the keyboard again. Or maybe I'll just sit on it and shake that ass, 'cos my face is kinda hurt and swollen recently....

It's this type of opinion that got them nerfed in the first place. "They are the easiest to level with so of course they're the best class" No. Balance needs to be formed around End-game content. Who cares if DKs are better at rolling trash mobs while leveling, if your destination (VR12) is going to suck.
