Will The Werewolf Skill Line Get Balanced?

Enderman_Slayer
If anyone has played as a werewolf in ESO they would probably say that it is very much so watered down when it comes to expectations of what a werewolf should be. I notice that there are a lot of balancing issues with the classes, vampire and certain skills brought up on forums, in patch notes and such, but not so much on the werewolf skill line. Considering that I couldn't find anyone making a deal of it i decided to send this message as a trouble ticket so it will get looked at:

"I have seen plenty of forums outlining the advantages and disadvantages of being a werewolf and it seems like werewolves are very watered down. I understand that the idea is not to force people to choose to become a vampire or werewolf to be competitive in PvP but does that mean that people should have to not become either to be competitive? I feel that at this moment the only reason to be a werewolf is to be able to say that you are one. I have some ideas on how to use the skill line to gain an edge in a group but I haven't seen anyone else with these thoughts. This video sums up what people feel about werewolves http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/92944/the-unstoppable-power-of-a-werewolf-in-pvp-video. I figured that with the focus of balance dedicated on the game that I would have seen a plan to make werewolves a bit more....terrifying. I have only really played with it in PvE and I don't see increase in damage, max health/stamina or health/stamina regen after the transformation, with out the passives, that you would expect from being a werewolf. The point that I'm getting at is: Will there be some sort of balancing between werewolves and non-werewolves?"

I feel almost that the werewolf skill line is either 1. watered down to prevent OP players destroying the battle field or 2. being used incorrectly by the community. Either what fixes are planned or what is the intended use of the werewolf skills? I'm just curious as to what other people have to say and also want to bring some light to the situation.

Its working as intended. Its never going to get "fixed" because of that reason. Why do I think so?

There is a VR10 quest that make it very, very clear what ZOS thinks about werewolves. A white packleader quest boss at VR10 has 1500 hitpoints. That is all. No, you didnt read that wrong. A VR10 werewolf boss with so much hitpoints... a normal player will insta-kill it on sight.

Meanwhile your average trash troll has nearly 10,000hp and slaughter unprepared players.

In other words, ZOS are trolling us. They mock the werewolf.

    Could it be any clearer?

Its been stated several time now its not working as intended (unpowered). Whats driving people crazy is that they haven't given any updates - whatsoever - in a long time now.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that it is broken and needs a fix, it just needs something extra. It would seem that going werewolf only makes you weaker. You have 2 skills, a poor self healing capability, and the impending doom of turning back in the middle of a fight in just a few seconds from now. I would also personally like to see a throw (people) ability and a full moon involuntary transformation through out the night. With the earlier comment imagine throwing some squishy mage off of a keep wall to your buddies on the ground. With the latter that would be a good time to over run the keeps for a couple of hours. In reality people would just not play that character for that time due to the poor performance of WW's. :(

Also the response for my e-mail is as follows:

    "Greetings, child of Hircine!"

"Thank you for contacting the wolf pack."

"Being a werewolf in Tamriel actually brings some options that really affect
game play, and not only in PvE situations, my friend. As an example, inspiring
terror in PvP is an overwhelming advantage that might change the course of an
engagement with crowd control abilities and limiting the reinforcement rate of
    the adversary."

"On werewolf in an ambush party is also a brilliant asset! Obviously the hated
fighters guild abilities and our vulnerability to poison can damage us, so a leader
must use his werewolves with tactics and care."

"I will send this message to our wisest long fangs, so they can provide you with
    the wisdom of Hircine."

"May you walk under a blood red moon!"

    "Warm Regards,
    Hannibal, five-slashes
    The Elder Scrolls Online Team"

In regards to the "inspiring terror" part I guess that is all about perspective. While you could jump in and "fear" the players character into running away, I want someone to have the thought of "Oh ***, it's a werewolf" and actually run away rather than "Oh, it's a werewolf. That's cute." The whole ambush idea kind of just goes with any character that you use. Get the jump on an unsuspecting victim and they can't do anything to stop you. You could do this at level 20 in Cyrodiil to a VR player. The biggest thing that I feel is that people don't get the feeling that they expect to have playing the a WW. I know that I don't.

Correction: WE have stated its not working as intended. ZOS has stated nothing. Nada.Zip. Not a word. They threw us two fixes that are not fixes for anything, but other than that no one has any idea whats going on with WW because ZOS has lousy customer service skills and refuses to communicate with us about the WW issue. That just leaves us to make up stuff, pretend they actually care, and read into things that are not happening.

When you say "WE" I assume (and you know how that goes) you mean the general player community. As I mentioned before, the WW skill line functions correctly. Pounce makes you jump at enemies and roar causes them to run for a short time. It's not like the NB class where you have skills that don't even function as intended. In regards to the WW skills, it's just that there are other things that already do this and loosing your other skills causes the gain of being a WW to be a very small gain.

I like to search around once and a while to see if someone has figured out how to use the WW skill line (or even how it works) and no one has put anything out there on the subject of how to build an effective WW. Lots of stamina and lots of health seem to be the main way to go but no one knows the stat changes either.

One more thing and I should be done with this for the day. I found this article from May 1st, ya almost a month ago, where reddit had interviewed a series of people or compiled info from various sources into it. There is a slight blurb that states, "Yes, we believe werewolf is under-performing right now. Expect a few buffs to help offset this. In the short run, we’re reducing the ultimate cost of the
transformation itself." This is the best that I have found stating any changes to the WW skill line (which has already happened with no future updates). If someone finds something newer please feel free to post it here as well.

When you try and correct someone, it helps to actually be right. It has been stated in these forum and on reddit 4 times I have personally been apart of. 2 times on the AMA and 2 times in these forums.

Why would you even bother to post that? It comes off as you're lying or you are insanely ignorant. Either or, since you clearly have no clue - what is the point of posting something you obvious don't know?

    Bizarre.

Oh, and encase you try and flip it around, since your veracity is in question:

Are the guys that work on stamina resource, werewolves and Templars on vacation? Is ZoS afraid to acknowledge that stamina users, werewolves and Templars are under performing right now? ZoS Can Templars get an independent forum post on things being worked on for them? Like how the Nightblades have one in the general forums?

No, we agree that all three need fixes and improvements, and are working on them. We're putting together the very type of comprehensive update post you mention. It'll go up this week, as soon as it' done.

ZOS_Konk responded to one of the WW questions.

“Ok, manged to get in by borrowing Jess Folsom’s laptop. Please excuse any typos since I’m not so familiar with this keyboard. Also, if I give an answer you don’t like, that’s Jess’ laptop’s fault as well. I’m going to try to work my way through the backlog of questions here as quick as possible, so I might be a bit brief with the first few answers. I’ll try to circle back for follow ups as quick as possible.

Yes, we believe werewolf is under-performing right now.
Expect a few buffs to help offset this. In the short run, we’re reducing the ultimate cost of the transformation itself. We’re also looking at a few other changes as well to offset some of the other points you bring up (which I think are quite valid).”

    Etc etc...

Wow, really? Because I can think of 3 AMA's this has been addressed and twice on these forums.

    Well done...
