Is ESO monitoring our hardware?

I did a video card upgrade the other day and noticed that when I logged into ESO I was asked to authenticate my account. The software had not been touched, the computer was the same just a new video card.

I thought this odd and so tested by moving my old video card to a second system that uses a different account. Before I did this I logged into ESO with no issues. New card in and sure enough I had to authenticate again.

I understand using IP information to authenticate a system, but actual hardware monitoring?

    You made a change to the way you log in. Its probably saved in your host.devoloper. text document file. It alerts them that something new is going on. And it may be an intrusion on your account. Its not a bad thing really. And pretty painless to get a new password sent to your email address. I think the game launcher checks all that out when you attempt to launch it. So its able to see discrepencies from there saved data and your new graphic card.

    Its a leftover debug tool used during development probably collecting dxdiag files nothing to do with security.

    Not hard for them to spy on hardware.
    Just like I'm sure the NSA has already began surveillance of ESO chat.

    It might also be functions scanning for know bot software.
    Grinding just make you go in circles.
    Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
