Overall I think I still like this game, I want to still like it. My biggest issue is that, especially in VR content, Zenimax has seemed to completely forget that there are people that like to melee DPS. On average, most mobs hit me for around 500 each hit in medium armor (some as much as 700), then they hit for over 1000 on their special or power attacks if not mitigated. That means, if I am playing as a tank, with full 49 points in health, and heavy armor, and enchanted for health on all gear, with a max of around 3000 health, taking 400-500 damage a hit, I can survive for 6-7 hits without healing before I die.
I do not play as a tank, I play a rogue style night blade (which Zenimax seems to hate in their own way, but I will not get into that), so I zip around in shadows (when it does not bug out, or get prematurely ended by any of my damage over time or enemy damage over time or area of effect damage or that blinding debuff that causes miss chance from dual wield, don't ask me why that kicks night blades out of invisibility, I just know that every time I am effected by it, it takes my magicka but no invisibility) until I run out of magicka, then I die in 3-4 hits. Now lets make this a 3 mob pull instead of a 1-2 mob pull. That means in the first second after I pop out of stealth, each of the other 2 mobs hits me once. Pop back into stealth, hit the original mob again, pop out. Get hit 2 more times, and if I am lucky, I kill the first mob, if I am not, I die for nothing.
I understand that VR content is supposed to be harder, I really do. But all the touting of "Play how you want to play" is a big load when you start making mobs hit so hard that you have to be a tank or ranged to survive. Sure, there are people that can play melee DPS through VR content, I managed to get to VR 7/8 areas before I really started having trouble, but VR 9 is impossible to play in the melee DPS, cloak and dagger play style. I am being forced to play as a tank or ranged to survive.
Zenimax went with the "Holy Trinity" of MMOs, Tank, Healer, DPS...but they forgot two things. First, DPS is all damage, ranged, caster and melee. Second, is they forgot the holy trinity of all Elder Scrolls games, Warrior, Mage, Thief. They really need to step up the corrections to make it so the people that want to play thief type characters can actually do so.
