Some discussion

I should have never bought a game made for console . Im a PC gamer haven't played console in nearly 2 decades . Games for consoles I found to be gimmicky and depthless after playing my first MMORPG and never went back .

I watched the reveal of another game at a gaming expo it was the third edition of that MMO franchise . Something kept nagging me . I couldn't understand why you only got like 4 combat arts . Me and a friend were talking about it and he gave me the answer . Console control pads . Looking at this game I see why a lot of things are the way they are . Stuff like ..No type search function on guild stores . The structure of the different windows In crafting .etc etc . I also wonder if stuff that we have become use to in other MMOs like combat text are not in this game because of future console sales .

If I remember right people are calling the simple depthless combat in this game as " real time combat " . I have even heard people refer to it as " Twitch based Combat " . You can use Block , Dodge and Interrupt but the only difference between this and other games is they have alot of the same abilities in their Hotbars . The way its implemented in this game is to make it easier for Console users .

I hope that one day a major studio will make a great game made for PC and give up on trying to double down on their money trying to get Console players .

Insightful... That does make a lot of sense. Only being able to use 5 skills for each weapon swap always seemed lame (not to mention weapon swapping during combat sucks).

When that first started going around, I didn't believe it. I was all fangirlish and was like, "Nah guys. You're crazy. They wouldn't do that." But I see it now. The simplicity of the UI is nice. I like less clutter. But limiting the action bars to what they are now leaves less utility on the pc, and you're right, it does feel set up for a controller.
And the simplicity in a lot of other areas like the questing and the combat format makes a lot of sense as well. Shame.

I prefer it this way. I hated having 100 skill bars taking up my entire screen and trying to remember what all they do and when to use them only to ignore them most of the time and only use 5 anyway. Makes it easier for me.

It is a different kind of setup, but it does not "bother" me. Make the game so console players can play also, thats fine..... but keep it equal or pc priority.

Like a poster before me said..... I want to play a pc mmo for a pc..... console gets more love as far as tike , resourceses, IM OUT

I remember when a guild leader came to me and asked me to talk another guild mate . Guild leader said his DPS wasn't what it needed to be and frankly from PARSE it wasn't ( And we both played the same class and I was a officer ) . So I did . He was also only using very few of his skills . Now of course this wasn't a WoW based Mage using the same few skill over and over again .

I would rather learn to play a class well and earn my praises and rewards than spam the same 3 abilities over and over

Having 900 skills does not mean you can play your class any better. You play better by knowing what skills can do and when to use them. I have seen people double my DPS using 2 skills and people do half my DPS using all 5 skills and the ultimate. I think I get what you mean but at the same time a good player works with what hey have. we have 5 skills and an ultimate than we can swap for another 5 skills and an ultimate. so that's 10 skills and 2 ultimates. Way more than what some need way less than others. When I start PVPing hardcore I will probably switch my rotation because PVE and PVP will not use the same.

The fewer available skills only makes a smaller pond so small fish can feel bigger!

Its a dumbed down system! I became immersed in MMO's because of the seemingly endless choices. Races, classes, skills, I love the holy trinity of dps tanks and healers! The balance of aggro management. The way you must watch several factors at the same time. Which in part means you must have the right build for every battle. In ESO some of that is there. But for the most part I find it lacking. Specially considering there are only 2 of the 4 (seriously you only had to balance FOUR classes. Too few for a modern mmo imo) are viable for serious end game content!

Haha, swapping skills... No feeling is worst than when you are in the heat of battle and realize you need to swap weapons for a different skill...

    -swap button press 1... Nothing...
-swap button press 2... 3 seconds later weapons swap but then immediately swap back because you pressed it twice.
-swap button press 3... Wait for 3 seconds, nothing happens.
-swap button press 4... Wait for 3 seconds, weapons finally swap.
