Suggestion: add cosmetic items of clothing

Not sure if this has been brought up before, I went back a month or so in the forum. Also: this is not about adding cosmetic slots to our avatar so we can have the stats of one piece of armor but show another (like the disguise slot), although this suggestion would tie in with such a system.

What is ostensibly missing from crafting is clothing, i.e. anything other than armor. Roleplayers now have to choose between going around in their work clothes or go naked. I'd like to see recipes for all manner of clothing: formal male and female attire from simple to ornate, various workman's clothes, rags, shirts, skirts, kilts, hose, you name it. These could be added as rare recipe or item drops, unlock at various crafting levels, or earned by questing, or a combination. Much of this clothing already exists on NPCs, and it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to add this to the crafting system we already have. Tweaking the rarity means players of any stripe have an interest in gaining these items or recipes, since they can sell them on if they do not care for such items themselves.

I can understand the need for this. I agree that thisu type of clothing should be available, but I am not sure if many crafters would get behind this idea. Crafting tales a lot of time, and tje market for armor will always be larger. I am interested in seeing if anyone can come up with plausible implimentation.

My suspicion is that we will eventually see "social clothing" implemented using the disguise slot. My husband got a very cool-looking outfit called Golden Saint Costume as a PvP reward for reaching Vet 2. I think it would be extremely cool if we could actually make such clothing ourselves as part of the crafting system but I would be surprised if they chose to implement it that way. Either way, I REALLY hope we do get social clothing and soon!

AGREE. ME KNOW ALSO THAT ZOS DEVS SMARTER AND WORK HARDER THAN PUNY ROCKET SCIENTISTS. ANYTHING IN I.T./GAME DEV CONSUMES LIFE AND REQUIRES THE STRONGEST AND BEST.

There are already some disguises that fill this role. The servant disguise from the main quest in Stros M'Kai is a good example of this. I am sure they will add more disguises in the future.

i like clothing better than disguise's because they allow one to much better customize their chars looks.

Robe without a skirt can be obtained from mobs.
    But you cant create them.

I'm sick of skirts, hate them.

I like the idea of being able to craft more casual clothing too.
I think the simplest way to do this would be to add a casual clothing motif to the game.

I'd also like to see - as I've mentioned elsewhere - the expansion of disguise slot usage. Namely: We would equip a set of equipment/clothing that we like; dye it the colour we like; then have an option to convert that to a one-piece disguise that we can then equip in our disguise slot. I think that would be a nice feature and would build in the mechanics already in place in the game, making it (hopefully) relatively easy to implement.
If you can be anything, be kind.

Cosmetic items should be something that, even if not craftable, should be able to be found in loot from enemies and in containers (like in previous Elder Scrolls games) at the very least. It's a bit disheartening that the developers hadn't thought of this, or didn't want to take the time to implement it.

In regards to this, I believe that would be very beneficial for players who are low on bag space and don't want to carry around an entire alternate set of clothing.
