My player is a heavy armor wearing two handed weapon Templar. My current crit percentage is 0 and I am level 34. I haven't found any passive abilities that will help me increase this. So are there any other ways?
Medium armour have a passive which gives you physical crit for every piece of medium armour on.
Light armour have a passive that gives you spell crit when you have 5+ light armour pieces on.
Magelight/innerlight in the mages guild skill line gives you 7 - 20 spell crit.
Theres a mundus stone that improves crit but as someone said it might be bugged, not sure on that.
I don't think there is anymore passives that give a consistent crit bonus but there are some that improves crit after use but I don't remember the name sadly.
dont know for sure, Im sitting a bit over 30% with my nightblade atm, with only 5 medium, crit traits on dual weapons. It would be higher, but I think Ive bugged passives, and if I was a cat I could be pushing over 50% I would guess with passives, racials, armor, set bonuses, and mundus stones. Sometimes I envy the cats, not enough to be one though.
You should really play a 5/2 or even better 4/3 heavy/medium combination, medium passives help with crits and stamina regen, 2 things that help melee characters
On top of the trait there are also crit glyphs. Certain racial passives increase crit, and I think (not sure) that DW skill line has crit boosts as well as bow and staff. Oh. Crit potions/foos can boost crit to 100%+ atm.

If i do go ahead and do a character with 5/2 heavy to medium or 4/3 is it worth giving up say 30-50 points of armor for a the extra crit? Does it make a big enough difference to be worth the armor?
Depends on your role and if the armor loss will matter much.
I have weapon crit, even though I am not melee at all. But no spell crit. I did take Thief mundus after the patch, and it seemed to work until I logged out, then disappeared.
I wish there was more for spell crit at early levels, but looks like I will have to look into set bonuses also in the future.
