Staves/Staffs

Deleted a character I made on release date because its been bugged. Decided to make a staff only character, it is my first ESO staff user.

Looking around I see that staff effectiveness isn't just determined by Stam , nor is it determined just by Magica but is a combo of both.

Could some explain staff mechanics? Does a staff build need Stam to be most effective?

Stamina improves the damage of light and heavy attacks made with the staff. Magicka covers pretty much everything else.

I'm fairly sure Stamina and Magicka have no effect on any weapon damage.

As far as I know, the damage a weapon does on it's 'standard' light and heavy attacks are based on the weapon itself. The weapon tooltip tells you what these are.

The 'active' skills associated with a weapon are based on the spell damage and weapon damage attributes in your character screen. These depend primarily on your level but can be improved by some jewellery enchantments and some passive skills.

This is the way it used to work at least, I haven't checked recently. There are a series of YouTube videos that explain how it works, eso unraveled is the series, I think.
