Armor Dying Looks Promising

The screenshot posted with the June information update makes armor dying look promising - as well as close to implementation. The range of colors looks broad enough to create some unique armors.

I hope it will be available for all levels of armor - not just higher levels - and all types. Also, I hope its available at all crafting areas.

Thanks for this! It looks good.

If I remember correctly, they said dye's will be tied to achievement, so I doubt it'll only be for high level armors. But you're right it does look very promising

It would be interesting if they tied to an achievement - certainly would open a new market for armor for those without the achievement.

Can anyone confirm this with a link? I heard one other person say this, but I still think it might be speculation.

Yeah. What would be really cool though, is if they made some 'staple' or 'base' dyes that are available through things like leveling/finishes certain quests/dungeons, then make really cool dyes through achievements. That way everyone can at least get a piece of the cake.

The screenshot posted with the June information update makes it look like the black dye is only available for people that have done 'group' content.

Black is traditionally the loners color of choice, So that would really suck imo...

Hopefully it will be similar to Motifs. Where you have a standard easily accessible set, with the rarer dyes needing some sort of higher requirement for accessibility. But NOT acquired through loot container/drops.

If they make it available through loot container/drops then that will bring out the bot farmers ten fold. Lets pray they don't do this.

I hope they fix all the reset achievements before they add dye tied to achievements.

Since the recent color change one of my characters looks like a giant golden twinkie and another looks like a circus clown. So looking forward to the dyes whatever they are.

The screenshot I am looking at shows a dye crafting station with a color pallette to make any color you want, and there looks to be no restrictions. Where is the group content part or Achievements part coming from?

Edit: NM, just saw the quote on the bottom message, "Elinhir Black - From Achievement Weekly Trial Complete."

Hmm I wonder if the dye remains when selling/trading, and if it can be applied to items before equipping them(unbound)

This could make crafters even more useful when others seek customization.

Other than that, I wish you could change the racial style of dropped items. So many people are wearing the Warlock cowl and robe you don't see many unique casters out there

with the cave eat : you wont get the color if you havent done the achievement
= no LvL1 will see the color for completing weekly trials
the same for other achievement based colors

Armor Dyes does look promising, but the truth will be in the implementation...

Who will be able to Dye armor?

Will Dyes be crafted? By Who? At what (item) cost?

It looks like Dyes (or at least some Dyes) will be tied to achievements, how will one get those achievements? Will dye granted by the achievement require the achievement be repeated the next time you wish to use the dye?

Will Dyes be applied differently to different armor, to different armor types, to Different Crafting Types? Will I be able to dye/lacquer my weapons? (Dyes for Light and Medium, lacquer for Heavy, Stains for Wood)

Will Dyes, Like Traits, only be able to be applied when the armor is being crafted or can they be applied/reapplied later? will a light color dye cover a dark colored dye?

Will there be a separate "Wash" used to remove dyes?

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but the thousand words can explain a lot more things then the picture.
Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most...

The whole 'road ahead' post is incredibly exciting, and the dying part looks pretty awesome.

I don't think people are level one long enough to care much about their armor color, and most will have a main/guild/friend who is a crafter who could change the colors for them.

So looks like with the dye system you have pen, brush, bucket. Based on armor crafting improvement, I would guess the pen is for the thin design lines and embossed emblems. Brush is for the rest and bucket is to do both/all?

I think thats the "eyedropper" tool, I forget the pc art term but for when you want to "pull"/copy an existing item's color and apply it elsewhere.

For example, a piece is black, and another is red. You can pull/copy the black and apply it elsewhere.

The gear in this game already looks quite nice. No stupid bright colours, oversized shoulders or lights like space lasers. The gear is all appropriate for the setting.

I'd rather they focused on other things, like balancing resources. Maybe improving grouping functionality. Different dev teams maybe, but there are so many things they need to fix before adding fluff like this.
