I can agree on the other stuff you said. But the lore breaking is a non-argument in any game. The lore get's bent and rewritten to justify stuff like this every other day.

How in the hell would it ruin the game? Racial passives are WAY too powerful in this game and I'm sorry, I'm not going to replay a Sorc for the 12 or so days I have /played. In what way does changing my race have anything to do with you and why wouldn't zenimax want my cash monies for allowing me to do this? If people really have a problem with this, just let us change our race passives to another race passive PLEASE. It isn't my fault that Sorc melee dps is no where in the same stratosphere as caster dps.

If ZOS changes the passives it would be lore breaking. This is an elder scrolls game not just an mmo everything that happens in this game needs to be ok in the lore, race changes and race passives are already set in lore. If they change the lore for the mmo people TES players will leave, which will lose them more monies.

And I agree as a fan of TES that they should not mess around with the Lore, but again I ask how does making a little profit from indecisive people break anyone's lore? I would be willing to bet that as many TES fans would use the service as not.

What Lore is being broken? How does what other players do effect anyone? I played wow for years and can't name one person that changed race or even class. The service was there, they made a lot of money of it.

Um, please note the following piece of TES lore "the Bosmer are the only race that can transform (excepting Vampirism and Lycanthropy). This is because they saw the Ehlonfey transform into the earth bones, which prevents transformations. However because their ancestors saw said transformation they can alter themselves. Such transformations are the source for most monsters on Nirn"

So technically according to TES lore only the Bosmer can change race, and even then only into a monster.

We are not talking about an in game transformation. We are talking about an out of game transaction

Example 1: Someone is new to TES chooses an Altmer because they like Elves. After playing through the first 40-50 levels they decide actually I don't much like the Altmer they is racist pigs I would rather a be a Bosmer. So they log out, pay £5 wait 15 minutes and log back in. Only the race and passives have changed.

Example 2: A veteran TES fan starts a Nightblade Khajiit with the intention of being an assassin. After playing the game for a while they take up a more warlock type approach. They want to change the passives to suit. They log out etc...

How would any of that effect other players?

I would unsubscribe once enough of these options would become available because I personally think choice should matter. And I don´t mean the choice to pay or not to pay. It starts at the character select screen.

I doubt it will be added any time soon. Lore aside, I'd rather not see ESO go the route of other MMOs just because others do it. There are plenty of games that cater to instant gratification and to the idea that player choices are of little consequence. No need for ESO to become yet another one. You pick your race when you roll and that should be that. People who want everything to be easy and malleable so you can adjust to whatever the flavor of the month is have plenty of options. Every step made in that direction just makes ESO that much weaker as a game. If I rolled my main over I probably would choose a different race, but I made my choice and having the ability to alter it now is just silly. Of course, I expect we will continue to see all sites of "WoW does it" requests for this game. Hopefully the devs will ignore that nonsense and concentrate on fixing things that need fixing.

But how would you know someone changed their race or passives? How could it affect you at all if you did not know?

It doesn't matter if I know you changed your passives or not, in the lore each race has their own passives. The races can't just pick and choose the passive they want. Why can't all of you people just stop trying to ruin the lore. ZOS will lose way more money from ruining the lore, then they would from people who are butthurt over not being able to change their race or passive.

The choice matters too much. I'm losing a good 10% total effectiveness as a Khajit Sorc compared to Altmer Sorc. That is a bit harsh for a choice I made on the first day of early access when it wasn't common knowledge that resto/destro and magicka based builds were twice as effective as melee builds. I just can not comprehend and am still waiting for someone to explain to me how me changing my race will matter to you at all.
