The next "State of the Game Address" by Matt Firor? It's been about a month and a half since the last one - since the last time Firor has deigned to post in his own game's forum (he has only one post total).

Either he'll actually address the myriad of concerns the community has and give us an idea of what they plan to do, which would be very refreshing and reassuring, or he'll do a huge spin job, which should at least be hilarious.

About as much as I would look forward to having a skinny dip in a pool full of hungry piranha.

I myself have been wondering when he would say something again. Even on a fan forum.

I'm sure it'll be a spin-job, that's really what state of the game addresses all boil down to be. Just some well worded marketing aimed at the game population to try and placate them and give them a taste of what's coming up next.

That being said, I do look forward to Firor's communications. I hope he does address some of the major concerns that have been pointed out by everyone in the forums as well as media outlets that have highlighted valid issues with the game thus far.

I hope they really take it to heart and start working on some significant changes and improvements to the game. I enjoy this game quite a bit but I can't see it lasting for a long time in its current state. There are too many bugs, too many glaring feature and content omissions, too many problems with basic mechanics and functionality. The whole thing feels very rough and unpolished, particularly as you get up into the Veteran content.

I assume you don't count official news posts or AMAs on Reddit as legitimate because they aren't on this specific forum.

The game director shouldn't be posting on the forum. Ever. That's something for specific ZO employees to do.

Just started a thread this afternoon about it myself: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/comment/942508
Life of a Nightblade (Screenshot Tumblr)

Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

    I disagree.

I think the game director should post on their game's forums. Often. It's something that shows that they actually care about and are personally invested in the game that they manage and don't just pawn it off on their lackeys.

I'd prefer that the game director does his job and directs his team. His job is not to make you feel validated.

It has nothing to do with validating me or anyone else. It's about him being visible to the community and simply taking some time to discuss how he, as the game director, feels about how the game is going and future plans with us, his customers.

It's not like him taking 15 minutes to make a forum post will derail the entire development process of the game and they need to start from scratch every time he does it.

He already does this. Or do you really not read the news posts?

PR/Community Management is a totally separate department from design. Developers should stay focused on making the game instead of dealing with the cesspool that is the forums.

I know he already does this, my point was that I appreciate the fact that he does it and that he should continue to do it.

I'd rather hear about plans for the future of the game from the person actually responsible for said changes, not from some random community manager that's just copy/pasting whatever communication email they were told to post.
