Proposal: Reduce mob aggro if there's a significant level difference.

I submit here what I hope is a relatively simple change. I'd greatly appreciate it if mobs significantly lower than your level - low enough that you would get no XP or loot from their defeat - were less inclined to aggro to you.

Running through an old zone to get lorebooks or skyshards you missed becomes a hassle when mobs are still keen to rip you apart, even when they don't stand a chance to do so. Players don't generally target creatures significantly above their level, why should enemies?

I recently returned to the Alik'r Desert to pick up a few things I'd missed before (lorebooks, Lesser Circle credit, etc.) and at one point found myself swarmed by seven Ra-Netu, who happen to aggro incredibly quickly - even sprinting directly away from them when I hear their notification isn't enough to get them off my back. When the smoke cleared, all I'd gotten for my effort was the distinct feeling of wasted time.

There is, of course, some risk to this. I do every quest I find and run each dungeon in each alliance as I progress, so I often find myself overleveled for even new areas. Even so, I usually need to kill the enemies for a quest anyway, so I'll still get into combat... I also only propose a reduction in how quickly the mobs become aggressive, not an outright removal.

Also, as an early counterpoint: while Stealth is an option, it isn't guaranteed to work, and the decreased speed just makes it harder to avoid aggro after being noticed. (And why am I trying to sneak past enemies I could wipe the floor with, anyway?)

I'd rather they not change it, would give bots an upper hand.
Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

I think you just need to wait longer to go back to the old zones. In going back to a dungeon that I hadn't done the group challenge, I noticed that once a mob is 8 or 9 levels below you, it will just completely ignore you.

Relying on mobs to deal with bots isn't a good strategy, regardless. They already have ways of avoiding aggro - bots need to be dealt with in other ways. (Personally, I think ZOS has been doing a pretty good job with this, anyway. Noticing way fewer now compared to about a week ago.)

@jursicub17_ESO: I'm level 44 and getting aggro'd by level 4 Wolves and level 34 Ra-Netu as if nothing had changed. I think you might've just gotten lucky.

The only thing I've ever had disregard has been mudcrabs...and they'll still get ticked if any fighting takes place in the area.

Helped with a lower level dungeon the other day and came out having to do no armor repair whatsoever. I don't know if they have adjusted it so that you do not incur (armor) damage if you do not get XP's for the mob.

Seems reasonable, as, in theory, It's not to likely they're going to be able to hurt you.

I'd still like to see 1 XP and 1 gold for my trouble...just because of the time and irritation of having to clear the way to get where I'm going. I expect to have to be actively in the fight, to prevent people from camping out at the starter island with familiars in tow just to slowly & painfully level up...
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

Agreed. If there's a significant level difference they shouldn't aggro. If it were possible to make them flee, they probably should, but I'd be happy with a lack of aggro.

Exceptions to this, though, would be any type of boss and dark anchor mobs. I think we should always be able to do dark anchors, and that world and dungeon bosses should always aggro.

Still think all mobs should drop loot, though. As stated above, mobs are not the way to deal with bots. Nor is nerfing drops for honest players a viable way to deal with bots.

Good suggestion. Grey mobs that don't give you any loot/xp (well anything) should only aggro you if you stand right next to them longer than a few seconds.
Its just annoying to fight them back when they attack you.

I must agree with this. If a mob is 5+ levels lower, the aggro range should be reduced by at least one half.

If 10+ levels lower, they should become yellow (non aggressive).

Fighting lower levels gives no XP, no Loot, nothing. Yet if you are hit, you still take armor damage and have to repair.
