Shoulder armor pieces and hip-plates should be optionally invisible

Especially for light and medium armor, they often look like crap and not fit into armor style at all. Not mentioning that they actually literally floating in the air (except for high elven epaulets), which makes it even worse.
Now of course if someone think otherwise, they can keep them visible (by default). But for for those who agree with me there should be an option not to show them. Just like the option for the helmet.

I think SWTOR got this one right. A button that automatically matches all your gear items.

Now that I agree with. Bloody robes.... There is something very wrong with a man in a dress.

in beta i remember getting a few light jerkins, no idea where they all went or why none are craftable.. its really crap that not only are they missing but all the light robes are completely to the floor "maxi dresses" not even a few that look like sort of hauberk style.... blergh

Yes. I agree 150%. they really need to take all those things that look like they were literally stapled onto my toon (im thinking shoulderplates and hip plates specifically here) be optional. for the benefit of others I think that adding gloves and boots to this as well.

or even better (and IMO almost more important) the "build a costume" addition that this game SERIOUSLY NEEDS, and the dressing room, again that this game SERIOUSLY NEEDS. Why most other MMO's are coming out at release with these things, and this game doesn't even have them implemented is beyond me.

I can't imagine how badly all those guys in heavy dresses must smell, considering how bundled up they are all the time.

It can't be that cold, considering the foliage and how the Bosmer chix can dress so lightly in the AD areas.

    Inviz shoulder/hip armor: +1.

Craftable light Jerkins instead of fluffy bathrobes made from heavy hotel curtains: +1.

Zeni: Whatcha got for us as a solution that isn't another crap idea?

Yeah! the hip plates or whatever they are look ridiculous mostly cos they seem to not even be attached to you lol
And definitely would love to see some options to JACKET AND PANTS on light armor. I hate skirts, even if I have female toons. I would like some slim pair of pants to go with a nice chest piece when I wear light armor.

I agree on this - it would be nice to add to the no helmets option:

    Hide hip plates
    Hide pauldrons
    Hide skirt part

I'm not a fan of the flappy hip plate things or floating pauldrons. Although I play mostly male, if they're in a nice robe, the hip plates and pauldrons especially make it look Bad.

My one female wears a very dress-like robe of a nice deep red - totally ruined by hip plates and pauldrons!

Some of the most popular mods for the other ES games were clothing and armour mods. This is just a small difference to tweak into the game that would make a big difference to some of us.

I thought the floating hip plates were weird and distracting in beta and said so to devs. I still think so although I think fixing it would be a bit of a problem as there are so many chest pieces with them.

Also, making just hip plates invisible while leaving the rest of the chest pieces visible could be very difficult as presently they are all one item. They'd have to be a new, separate piece of armor to do that, I think. I'd like to make them invisible, but I don't see it happening.

What I suggested was to have the darned hip plates moved closer to the body so they didn't float so obviously.

Shoulder pieces can be a bit overwhelming and ridiculous. So I agree with making the option to have them be invisible like helms.

As for light armor robes, I, too, would like to see armor alternatives to the robes. Shirts, jerkins with and without sleeves, etc.

Yes, the shoulders are quite awful in a lot of cases, they float so high about your character's actual shoulder. It's a shame, because some (e.g. nord cloth armour) fit really nicely on your character, so it can be done. Hopefully the Zenimax will one day tidy this area up; after all we're always looking at our characters/having them on screen, so it's relatively important to get items of clothing fitting properly.
In Lieu of that; yes a hide-shoulder armour option would be wonderful.
If you can be anything, be kind.

As a woman playing a female character I have to say that I would rather not always be in a robe either. It's fine for town but when I'm running across country it just feels wrong. I would really like some choice. I personally, wouldn't mind being able to make all my armor invisible if I could wear real clothes under it. Of course that would increase the number of naked people running around.

The problem with the hip plates is that their position does not scale with the hip size of your character. So if you have a small character with narrow hips then they float out in the air next to your character and look incredible stupid.

I would LOVE to be able to remove them.

Lemme guess - all that stuff about hip-plates is just because you miss your female charater's ass?

No, it's because they look stupid, floating away with nothing holding them on.

Just look at Scots, Arabs, Indians etc. that wear skirts or tunics. Not to forget frock coats or cassocks that are still worn today.

This, so much. Especially on khajiit robes/jerkins, but pretty much everything in general. A character wears a robe/jerkin to wear a ROBE/jerkin. Not clothing with armor plates randomly hanging off their hips or shoulders! Some of the shoulderpads just look ridiculous and out of place, as if someone was wearing football gear. Skyrim's mage robes come to mind when I think of an actual 'robe' that a battle-caster should be wearing.

And yes, please, please, PLEASE let us craft jerkins! A clothier should be able to make.. you know.. clothing? Especially since they are already in the game! It should just be a simple toggle!
