So im VR10 NB and get owned on a lvl 30 group dungeon?

The reason why you failed on this dungeon is not because you are wrongly skilled or not able to play your class but most likely because you have simply underestimated it. Thought you can run in 1 shot the trash and then kill the boss in 5 hits. Guess what.

Never underestimate a monster in any Elder scrolls game, this one included.

Well that nightblade was not wearing medium armor and dual wielding. I recently respected to light armor and staves and the game became an easy button. It isn't player skill, it is game design.

I feel you bro. I tell you....i've spent 100s of thousands of gold to make the dw medium build viable....and whether u want to believe/accept it or not. The following is my finding.

Medium armor dw NB build in PVE. U CAN solo dungeouns, however....u will do it slower than ANYONE else, and u have to calculate every fight. Thats is why most nb just stealth and run to the end boss. Also, u miss click, don't fire off your heal/siphon at the right time.....you're dead. Don't watch your magicka while youre stealthing thru....you're dead. Also sad to say....if after ALL that soloing and hardwork...you finally reach the boss.....and he is IMMUNE TO CC.....You're dead.
So in PVE...you are the LEAST efficient person walking tamriel.
HOWEVER, in group pve. with a good tank holding aggro, and a good healer keeping your frail ass alive. WOW you are THAT guy who burns the boss down. YAY!

In PVP. In a zerg group. You feel like a hero, cos through all the confusion, youre ambush,suprise attack,flurry,impale combo seems like you are actually OP. But u fail to realise, in the zerg, someone else prolly knocked the guy down, stunned him, root, quick siphon etc etc for the ridiculous amount of time it takes for the flurry to come off after surprise attack. So you feel like you're a killing machine.
SOLO pvp. You get the jump on ONE unsuspecting player. With quick cast cancelling, YES you will kill him/her in 3-4 secs. YOU ARE SO OP.
BUT. if that one guy has ONE friend...JUST ONE. You're dead. OR u stealth and runaway, turn around and try to pull all your DW *** on him....If he's a half decent player....again...You're dead.
You try that SOLO *** with a DECENT sorc or dk....You're dead.

Now i've perfected my build(to my playstyle) even made one poor fool rage till he sent me a hatemail ingame(I have no idea how he did this being in an opposing faction) But sorry to tell you. My build got nothing to do with medium armor or DW. It is not possible to be a "pro killerzor" with the so called "ideal" set up for nb.(Sorry, i spent too many hours and too much gold to just GIVE my build away)

I myself am sad. I really WANT to be a medium armor dw nb. In my opinion the looks are the best in deadric and the moves are the coolest......LOOKING. But alas...this is just FLUFF. Practicality is another thing.

*DISCLAIMER: Yes yes i know "but when u switch to bow/destro/resto/ etc etc blah blah." My whole wall of text was all about SOLELY the MEDIUM ARMOR DW build. NOTHING else.

TLDR: Medium armor DW NB only is viable when u have ppl in a party to CARRY you. Or you're fighting someone who really doesn't know what he's doing.

Welcome to Elder Staff Online, you cant play how you want and be very good. Their selling point of playing how you want is bs. Yes you can but at the sacrifice of having a gimp character and having a gimp character is no fun.

I don't remember Zen saying anywhere "play how you want and be good". I'm pretty sure it was "play how you want".

As other say level difference is not as huge in ESO as in WOW and many other MMO. An NB might have more problem with trash than bosses because of he need lots of AOE to take down the trash.

The biggest fix i'm anticipating is the "i can't go back into stealth after i've apllied a dot" bug.
THIS fix might make some more builds viable.

People are so stuck up with classes. NB doesnt mean MUST BE melee backstabber, templar doesnt mean MUST BE healer, dragon knight doesnt mean MUST BE tank, sorcerer doesnt mean MUST BE dps.
I agree there are imbalances that make one class more suited then the other for certain roles but any "class" can be anything to fit the locked holy trinity mmos have fed you for years. That being said it also doesnt mean that anything can solo everything. On my NB i solo alot, cant take everything. Playing with templar now and already early in game i discovered i can solo stuff i couldnt with my NB and vice versa.
Everything has pros and cons, yes yes, some have WAY more pros but i do not think for an instant it will remain this way. This is an MMO remember, cant do it alone? Group up, problem solved.

You are extreme noob. I've completed any 30 lvl dungeons at my vr1 NB (medium, duals, bow)

Can't solo group content complaint is fail complaint. It doesn't matter how many levels above something you are, if its meant for 4 players at level 30 then you should be level 120 to effectively "solo" it.

The worst part about doing much lower dungeons as any class, is the loss of yoiur Ultimate.

With no XP, there is no ultimate build, that makes everything rough.

There are some bosses that like to churn out 3-4 specials in a row, that usually like to cast at 3-4 different targets, (one for ranged DPS, on for melee, and a "chaser" spell for example for the Inspector guy in normal sewers). It is hard to take the usually ranged target knockback/knockdown, get hit by the close AOE, AND the "Chaser" AOE" it all makes the fight crazy. Add even 1 more person to split the baddie's targeting and it is a cakewalk though.

I've had a little luck with getting people to group for non-vet dungeons at vet level. Just have to be really clear in chat because people can't read and think you are starting a vet group. Done 2 this way so far. haven't been pressing it too muich recently.

Not true. With the Nightblade (or any class healing stuff) you can generate ultimate from healing. If there are adds or trash, use Sap Essence. If it's a single boss use two shades and Funnel Health. Funnel health heals shades and you. These skills generate a lot of ultimate, no matter what level the mobs are. If you are with other people, even better, you get a lot of ultimate. You can do this with any weapon.

First ask in guild, then go to the actual zone and ask in zone chat don't ask in the veteran zone, most people love to have veterans with them doing dungeons.

You may be correct, but the question was about soloing dungeons. So being with other people is not relevant.

Also, the OP would like to be able do this soloing without resorting to a staff as primary weapon.

Which leaves Siphoning skills healing only yourself to generate ultimate.

I can say from experience that doing this you may get one ultimate charge by the end of a lower level dungeon you are soloing.

Yeah if you go to the actual zone the dungeon is in (or the same level zone for other faction dungeons) and ask if anyone wants a vet to join them to run the dungeon you'll get lots of takers for that offer. And most of them will be willing to blaze through a few dungeons at once while they have your aid.

I think people are tired of seeing every class cornered into light armor with staves builds.

I'm in VR content, and I mostly see cloth wearers with staves and I thought it was all sorcerers for the longest time, however, I now realize it is all the classes going the same build route.

I doubt we really want to see our game continue down this path. Please, just make the other build options just as fun to play.

Yes, there are non-WoW-clone MMOs. And you are playing one.

And, no offence, but i am not even sure how you reached VR10. because there are definitely some very hard quest bosses along the way, which force you to learn to play smart.

This thread reminded me that I never got around to doing Banished Cells or Fungal Grotto with my level 38 DK, so I just went and solo'd them. Not really comparable to what the OP was talking about, but it was pretty easy. Maybe I'll try to solo Elden Hollow and Darkshade Caverns.

Solo play as a NB relies on subterfuge and CC. If you zerg around and expect pots to save your *** think again. You really cleared Silver/Gold that way?

I have been noticing that dots and elemental damage seem to be percentage based rather than based on the level of the mob. So you can fight a small group of mage type mobs that are 1/4th your level and still almost die.

It baffles me that we get no XP from such mobs. As they basically are doing as much damage as on level mobs would do.

well i jsut checked and since i am in ebonhart and daggerfall is my 1st veteran alliance, that dungeon is in rivenspire that means it has vr3 mosnters so yeah it will be too hard for me. what do you mean lvl 30 dungeon.

The problem is, monster never miss. A monster 30 levels below yours should miss, a lot.

At 20, I did the vampire quest. I had to kill 10 level 42 white trash monsters. I missed A LOT.

When things are reversed, my VR 12 never gets missed from a level 10 monster.

You can do it as a non-VR dungeon, in which case it'll be a level 28-31 dungeon.
