Why is this game getting so much hate?

There was someone in an earlier post that mention perhaps the PC release was just to test things. So ZOE could have a great release on the Console and therefore be the FIRST to launch a console MMO. With all the accolades about how polished and refined the console release was to be the first of it kind.

If that were true Just WOW what a slap in the face to everyone that bought any edition for the PC.

and sometimes that thought does look like it makes sense.

You'd implied in one of your (and some other entities) earlier postings that only someone who has reached a certain level (that should be shown in the post according to your post) are able to evaluate the game as a whole, not only a specific game area.
So I'd contradicted your PoV and claimed the view as posted by me. As usual, some guys came by and missunderstood the whole intention of my posting, cause of my lack in english language skills or their lack to read accordingly... who can say?

If you are judging a specific game area as the VR content and specify this in your posting, as you did in your last one, then for me, this is perfectly fine.

Lets look at this for a moment. It's a pretty risky idea, I mean gamers are a pretty fickle bunch. The fact is, if this is true, Zeni are risking their console version dying even before launch. As it stands now, if I was a console player waiting for this game to be released I would not be making a purchase of it after visiting these boards. Had it released weeks ago when it was due for release, then I would have because everything seemed ok then.

It's a pretty silly business idea to me. Release something below par that will annoy a large portion of your customer base. Then expect to sell the same product a few months later to a new customer base and hope they haven't seen or read of your previous failings.

Personally I think Zeni dropped the bomb with the BOT invasion and now their precious time is being wasted on this rather than fully focusing on developing the game.

As i see why its getting hate:
    1. HC pvpers using broken craps. (not ESO only. its in all mmo)
    2. DK unballance
    3. broken NB rage
    4. no thiefs and brotherhood yet
    5. forced to play OP nubaoe spamming light armored class dps.
    6. fixing bash made exploiters ragequit
    7. veteran level difficulty is hard (should be something like difficulty setting. i enjoy to fight hard mobs. more fun than just roll 3+ npcs alone without getting killed. thats so lame)
    8. customer service is bad. long time response from them, and not really helpful.
    9. demoralizing DOOMGIVER ppl.

No, I never implied that. I stated that I thought that you should post your level before criticizing someone with complaints. Then I went on to explain that the game is in good shape pre 50. After is where the issues lie.

Your misreading what I wrote doesn't mean I implied any such thing. But thanks for the clarification.

Bought Wildstar. It may be pre launch but I've been stuck in two hour ques for the past two days. There's a framerate bug that is allowing even the hardiest of rigs a measly 20-30fps. And it was DDOS hacked. But for some reason everyone hates on ESO. At least I could PLAY ESO.

I don't think a lot of people realize how potentially lethal to an MMO a bad release threatens to be. It's not as big a deal with other types of games but with MMOs it's just deadly. The graveyard is filled with them.

Warhammer was one. Couldn't get bugs and class balance under control in timely fashion after release in a PvP centric game. The devs frittered around with fixes seemingly forever. The fanbois all said the same things they always do. "MMOs always release with bugs," "give them a chance," "good riddance to the complainers that leave," etc. Had fantastic graphics and was a lot of fun. The servers shut down within a couple years.

Vanguard turned out to be a fantastic game when they finally worked the bugs out of that. Had really cool combat mechanics and is, arguably, one of if not the best dungeon crawling MMOs ever. Except it never recovered from the thing it is most famous for...An epic disaster of a release. Bugs everywhere. Broken classes. It went from being one of the most highly anticipated MMOs ever to people leaving in droves within months. They eventually fixed the bugs and it became a great game, but the numbers never came back. The servers shut down in the next month or so.

People want to love new games. They get invested in their toons and they will put up with all manner of problems from lack of content to annoying bugs even to excess downtime. But classes that don't work, major imbalances, and game breaking bugs only fly for so long. People eventually give up and go find something fun to play. And a lot never come back.

If you bought a broken car, broken PC, broken TV or any other piece of broken product you get a refund. But somehow people are haters or impatient when its about broken software. And in this case, the product doesnt even get better. It gets worse, a lot worse. All while requesting you to pay 15$ a month for a service that doesnt live up to what it promises.

Even my ISP refunds me days if my internet isnt runnign as it should.

Would like somebody to film themselves play the game and show your *** theories.... I love TES games and this game is amazing! But I have tryed to ignore the fact that bug's are making it unplayable in "SOME" ways.
If the game doesn't get critics that are realistic, they cant improve. Stop diffending... Looks stupid. And the guy/girl who obviusly will try to play smart and comment this as wrong.... Go to school.

People are silly in that they expect an MMO to be bug free and perfect. They don't understand that an MMO will always experience problems.

Why? Because they constantly change and add new things in. That is how they work and it will always work that way otherwise MMOs would die out.

Another thing few people know is that the best testers are unfortunately us.
This is because will we think of doing things the testers won't. As players we are especially good at breaking things in such beautiful ways that the developers may well be confused as to what we just did and how.

Every MMORPG has bots, find me one that doesn't.

I have NEVER seen other MMORPGs (since Ultima Online, Eve Online, WoW, LOTRO, etc.,) have the BOTS that manipulate their game code to the degree that they have on ESO, thus far!

By not allowing people to group up, flooding the land with bots and breaking more stuff with every patch and replacing end-game content with non-end game content?

This game is very good. I think with some right decisions for the future and this game could be one of the top contenders for time sinks in the MMO genre.

Lack of endgame. VR is a lazy thing and is boring. No matter how "good" the game is, repetitive grind with minimal reward is not fun so its not worth playing for many players.

Let me explain how Trion Worlds did with Rift at launch and you will see what I mean.

Getting to max level got you in to expert dungeons. At that time there were two tiers of expert dungeons and you earned tokens to buy gear sets to get ready for raiding.

The first raid was available from the start and it took several weeks for the pro/elite guilds to conquer it. By the time they finished they were able to go and test the new raid, River of Souls.

Before most casual gamers had even set foot in the first raid, the events for the new raid which involved worldwide quests and zone events for all levels, were in full swing.

Rift has now gone F2P and to understand why you would need to have played it before the storm legion expansion, and after it. The expansion put a lot of people off and changed the mood of the game in a big way. For 2 years it was the most updated MMO on the planet, a stream of inspired raids and other worldwide improvements.

in ESO we have max level content completion inside 2 weeks and when the new content was released , elite guilds had facerolled it and were posting trial times.

    NO CHALLENGE IN THIS GAME.

it is down to bad genre awareness and some very poor design decisions. the game is fine on the face of it but the implementation is all wrong.

All I can say is wow, I mean really, 3 pages of people complaining about this game. No, I did not read EVERY post and no I am not going to read EVERY post. But the majority of them are complaints, granted this game has its fair share of issues, but it is a NEW game and if you don't like paying to play a game that has issues then there is a simple solution for you.... DON'T PLAY IT.
If this game is not your cup of tea then find one that is, it's not like there are not a ton of mmorpg's on the market to play, some of them are even free to play... If you truly dislike this game so much then do us all a favor and state your reason for not liking it then just go... jeesh...

Voicing concerns over legitimate issues != hate

1st of all any of you defending the current game state obviously dont PvP or even play that much.

its a decent game, but its not at a state to charge $15 a month. As mentioned above most pvp players cant even play the game.

I took a week off due to bug and massive lag issues on wabbajack, I log in last night and I play for 10 min, get lagged out, then try to log back in to "unknown error occured" x3, finally get back in 10 min later, and I am dead, so I respawn at forward camp, and I appear dead, game lags out to menu screen, another "unknown error occured", I try to log in, I get loading screen for 10 min, alt+f4, relog in, get "unknown error occured", relog again, and I get another endless loading screen for 10 min, and then I just *** quit.

How am I suppose to enjoy this?? I cant even play the game I am paying for, but yet I am suppose to be happy?! I mean this on top of the already horrible bugs, like caltrops, which basically negates any reason to use seige weapons, which has been around for weeks, and yet they are just addressing this today?!

please save all your bull *** about what you think about players when you dont actually play this game. this game played better in beta, which is a joke. a bad one at that. they push this new content and dont even test it, and the player base suffers for it, and yet we are suppose to keep paying for this?! I am sorry but that is just ridiculous for you to assume.

they need to give back some game time for their *** ups, and you wont see that happening....

oh and SWTOR is a great comparison, they *** up the PvP system, and the players left the game, same thing happening here in ESO. Players are pissed because we were promised a PvP game, and we got sub-par PvE with a team that places little to no concern on PvP. Something happens in PvE they fix it the next day, while the PvP bugs just go on and on, like an after thought.

I'm with you millionaires. I have been following the forums and seen so much hate posts. But from my personal experience I do not believe this game justifies 10% of it.

For the record I'm Vr5 (just finished Cadwell's Silver). I play DK and mostly quest. I have been to Cyrodil a bit but can't say I'm particularly good and get my arse handed to me by much lower levels. Nevertheless I enjoy my time in ESO greatly!
So here's my response to a comment in this thread.

The grind: The best part of this game is the amazing quest stories. I think they are actually better than Oblivion and Skyrim. I do not see VR questing as a grind.
For instance I just finished Bangkorai and I was totally blown away. When I walked through Evermore and saw the crows all over the place. The city was getting invaded by the reachmen led by a powerful hagraven who controls the crows. Everyone is so depressed there and the Duke who had taken over after the king was killed decided the only way to save the city was to sell the city to the imperials. After finding this out and stopping the Duke you have a choice to spare his life or let the queen decide his fate. After the order is restored you have to defeat the hagraven leader. How do you infiltrate her lair? A wyrdess turns you into a wolf and you commune with the crows who turns out are being controlled by the hagraven then you gain entrance into her lair and vanquish her. After you finish the corruption dissipates and when you go back to Evermore you see the city restored. It's a great feeling.
Another campaign I really liked was Hollow City in Cold Harbour where you basically build up the city from scratch. Every quest you do slowly brings it back to life. Then the actual campaign against Molag Bal is really fun, even if it is not too difficult.
Aside from the questing there are a lot of things to do in Tamriel like fighting those world bosses or closing anchors. Sometimes you can go in with 2 other people and get challenged by a swarm of storm atronachs, and die 10 times but it's a satisfying feeling when you finally close it, and these days repair costs are not high so who cares if you die a few times.

Bugs: I'm yet to see a quest blocker. Sometimes I have glitches but a log out or /stuck does the trick. Worst thing I have encountered is the Mac texture bug which means a game restart is required from time to time, but it's not the end of the world.
Granted there's things like the 301 bug. That seems really bad for the people affected but luckily haven't experienced it.

Class imbalance for high level content: I don't care. You said it yourself - high level content. So let's say 10% of the player base. So the other 90% should not be affected by this. As far as I can see all classes are good enough to get through the Vr xxx areas so that's all that matters in my mind.

Stamina builds being inferior: I play a mix stamina magica build with more total stamina than magica. There's some great stamina abilities eg. blood craze, whirlwind, immovable. I don't see your point.

Bots: It's quite disgusting, but frankly it doesn't bother me. It's not like they're everywhere. I did the level 1-50 areas starting from April to beginning of May and cannot remember seeing that many bots. If I did see some I just finished the quest and moved on. TBH I've always been confused where botters get their market from in this game. Why do people need to purchase in game gold with real money? What do they use it for? It doesn't make sense to me.

Anyone who is currently dropping subscriptions because the game isn't perfect.. I have no words for. Because that's the attitude that's killing games, you cannot call yourself a gamer, if you do that.
Yes I can. Because in the meantime - while I wait for Zenimax to bring the game into working order. I can use the money that I am saving and spend it on games that actually WORK RIGHT NOW and are fun RIGHT NOW.

I dont see no reason to be continually throwing good money after bad, hoping that ESO will finally be fixed "some day".

Zenimax can continue doing their fixing while im away spending my pretious spare time (and money) on things that actually deliver what was promised.

I will not reiterate the list of zillion problems that haunt PVE-Content, Veteran content, PVP-content... I can do only so much "alternate ways of enjoying myself in the game". but when all of them have serious problems. Then I will be seeking for games entertainment somewhere else.

Cut short: MY money, MY Call.
No one is going to tell me on what game I have to blow 13€/month for.
I personally will keep renewing whenever I can, just so I can sit back and watch Zenimax transform this game, into a new-age MMORPG.

    Your money, your call.
But keep in mind... if players think they are not getting value for their money. they will leave... not matter how much YOU accuse them of "not being proper gamers". Thats free market for you.

I didnt read all the replys but I think:

    1. Class Balance. Some builds are pretty hard to use and are sort of unwanted in groups.
    2. PvP lag and boredom

Those are my two reasons. I like the game and once I started thinking of it as more of a mulitplayer ES game rather than an MMO my feelings softened toward the game.

I am currently playing WS and all the classes seem balanced and the devs make constant changes to try and keep them that way. I'll be back to ESO to play more for sure and I am still keeping up with the game. I dont hate it, I just wish it could be different to meet my particular needs.

    Most people are complaining because:
    • 50% of the base classes are not wanted for high end content (because they are subpar)
    • stamina based builds are a joke compared to magicka based builds (that adds another decent % to the unwanted)
    • tanks do better in light armor than they do in heavy
    • bots everywhere
    • bugs everywhere
    • no trade chat
    • horrible guild store interface(or no AH, take your pick)
    • forced to grind quests at vet levels

And the list goes on, there is plenty to complain about. That's not saying that there aren't good things as well, but you can only polish a turd for so long, and all that.
