    I hate leveling, I hate questing (questing has to be the most anti social feature ever created in online games, making so that you can bypass any group activity to reach top level in a decent time) and yet I would not want for such a system to be.

    Leveling should serve multiple purposes:
    • A time sink, plain and simple
    • Learn your class/profession whatever the game calls it, specialy in this game where you can test any of the skill lines well before you reach veteran content
    • Meet people and create bonds so you actualy have a reason to log the next day, even when you have done all available content

    In my opinion, leveling should take a while, because it artificialy gives a game longer life, because no game designer will ever be able to create content as fast as gamers beat it.
    Time sinks are necessary for a game's longevity, it's up to the game designers and manager to make these options interesting.

    To me a game where leveling takes a while, and this game does not qualifiy as taking a while to get to vr12 by no means, makes it so I have to make a concious choice of what class I am getting to top level, because then I will have to try and master it as best as I can and not just roll a new class just because I can.

    Now, see that's where you're just wrong. If you play the game the way the developers intended, questing, then getting to vr12 will take you well over 500 hours. That's pretty darn long for a game.

    I would be well interested to see where you get those 500 hours worth of game time from?
    I am vr12, I have a job and I play mostly on week-ends and yet I made to vr12 in about 3 weeks - I cant check my played time yet as the mega server is not up.

    500 hours would be a little over 20 days worth of real life time, by no means has this been the case.

    I would consider 20 days to a month worth of real life time to get to top level somewhat long, but by no means is this the case.
    Again, if MMOs weren't so focused on only providing content for the end game, players' perception of what is a long time might be different.
    As it stands, in this game the only activity you can take on at any level is Cyrodill thanks to the artificial skill boost system.

    I can understand why people want to rush to end game, I just dont agree with most people's definiton of "a long time" I guess.

    Personally, at this junction yes. After being forced to do every single quest with one character, (on all three factions) I have no desire to repeat the same exact thing.

    In EQ and WoW you had plenty of options where you wanted to level up, because it was a vast open world.

    ESO is a closed off eco bubble of repeating hell.

    OP, as you've stated yourself: reaching veteran status takes time. [Yes, for some it takes less time, but time nonetheless.]

    In my opinion, it would devalue the veteran ranks if a brand new toon, even if it is an alt, could become a veteran simply because another toon on the same account is VR 12.

    Nope, do like ffxiv. Your second toon gets 50% exp bonus on everything until he reaches same lvl as highest job you have.

    V12 is pointless v15 is around the corner.

    I'd would prefer quite the opposite. If you are VR12, you level an alt to 50, so you actually choose the faction to play, you learn how to play your class as you gradually unlock skills and you skip the VR1-12.

    If you do the 3-way crafting on your first character with Smithing, Clothing, and Woodworking it already makes it easier for your alts by creating set bonus gear for them to use. My first alt is breezing through content that my main used to have trouble with not just that I have the knowledge experience, but also by crafting them gear they don't have to randomly find upgrades for. Some people do it every 2-4 levels, I'm lazy though and just make them a full blue or purple set every max material craft level.

    Mate , there would still be no point in having said alt , you need to do many of the quests for the extra skill points , you have dungeons skill points , you have skyshards/lorebooks...

    Honestly , this game require tons of time invested in any char , that is all there is to it.

    Reason i wont make an alt , probably (just because i can only be 99,999999% sure) , in this game.

    I've already leveled another alt the regular way. It was fun because I found a lot of different things second time around. 1-50 goes by very fast. Although now I think about it I will keep him parked in Cyro with the current state of veteran content :#

    Also if your suggesting that mob grinding should be the norm, your dreaming, most wont be happy just aoe grinding mobs.

    I have done AOE grinding and I still say 25ish hours is utter BS, more like 70 unless you are in a group composed of optimal classes.

    Even all the AOE guides say 50 hours in a pair.

    nah, 1-50 should be the same, the VR ranks should be an account thing. once you get vr12 all your characters are vr12 and only need to be leveled 1-50

    I like leveling the regular way, doing it on multiple alts from the get go. Honestly, if it was up to me and I think many are grateful it is not, veteran ranks would be removed completely. The whole idea of veteran ranks and the way they implemented this system rubs me the wrong way.

    Luckily the game is fun and I won't let just one part of the game ruin the rest for me. :D

    Why not start at V1R12 with all skill points? It would save you the time of playing the game since you already did it.

    As stated, it gives you the chance to learn your character, and all of the ins and outs. I don't need to "save time" playing a game. The whole point of playing the game is to spend time doing it for the enjoyment of it.
