Maps, what is...
.... I was doing one of the Hermitage quests and i had to go to get more pots, when i went to return to the hermitage I had a popup on my map saying something to the effect, 'set focus to..' what is this?, sorry if its a dumb noob question, I'm hardly that but I cant find reference to it anywhere, am i correct in thinking it will enable me to return to the instance where I left off?

What you have found it that on the map the icon where you need to go and the quest icon are very close together.
Clicking it will give you an option to either fast travel to the location (I think the Hermitage you are talking about is the Harborage quests/main quest? In which case you can only fast travel to the Harborage itself), or give you an option to 'Set Focused : [name of quest]'.
This last option will not teleport you to the quest location, but will only make that quest active on your quest tracker (right hand side of the HUD).5
