Make Shadow cloak (and it's morphs) toggle-able

Just a thought had.

I think it would be a good idea to make shadow cloak and is subsequent morphs into toggle abilities, and make them drain magicka by a certain amount per second while active. This wouldn't really change the basic mechanics of them in terms of their magicka usage, but it seems to me like it would make them a bit more streamlined.

What do you all think?

So I can attack and be invisible at the same time, that rocks!

Or would it work like stealthing already does? ;)

Obviously I'm not suggesting that. It would still knock you out of stealth when you attack.

    No.

It's already a really good escape tactic. There is no need to make it toggle-able.

Why not? Making it toggle-able will not change it's effectiveness one way or another.

I would like shadow cloak to drop aggro and automatically put me in stealth.

The reason I don't use the ability, is I've found that I'm dropped out of cloak instantly far too much to use it in combat. It doesn't seem to drop aggro, I still get hit by any attacks the NPC's make against me (even outside AOE), and my own attacks made before cloaking cause it to break.

If it was simply an instant stealth? Fine by me. If it is a cloak meant to allow me to travel around unseen? Gonna need either more time, or a large speed increase.

Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

I'd rather not have to double slot claok. It doesn't need a nerf players need to l2p

Please no. ZoS is finally starting to get rid of toggles, we don't need more added.

Nothing should be toggleable, its a killer for interresting and diverse builds imo. Every toggle that requires 2 slots (ie all sorc pets still) should be reworked

This is what I propose instead:

Move Blur and it's morph to the Shadow, putting Surprise Attack in Assassination. This trades some of the defensive passive benefits of having SA to more offensive ones, and trades the offensive passive benefits of Blur for defensive ones (max health, tied to major ward and resolve; more consistent with other classes).

Remove invisibility from cloak completely. Make the base skill (and it's morphs) a self-targeted buff that functions the same way Lightning Form and Razor Armor do. Add a passive benefit to Cloak that states something like "while slotted, entering stealth is easier and reduces detection radius by X". This makes cloak a useful utility in PvE as well as PvP, whereas currently it is almost useless in PvE (outside of solo questing). I suggest the morphs stay the same, where one guarantees a crit on the next attack, and is therefore viable in a dps rotation, and the other continues to suppress DoT abilities, and is therefore viable for tanks.

While not having a spammable invisibility, entering and remaining in stealth for NBs should be inherently easier. Invisibility can still be obtained through potions, but sneak is still built into the class, and the passive benefits that buff sneak and invis damage are still usable and function the way they currently do. Exiting combat should be relatively easy for many NBs with this change; utilizing things like Shades to teleport out of enemy LOS, and then crouching would (ideally) be relatively easy, allowing for a clean escape. This would require much more skill than simply going invisible.

Id like NBs to get an alternative defensive ability. Make Blur actually usefull for example.

f off cloak is nerfed enough with this patch. blur and SA trade makes sense but not *** over cloak even more

Oh someone is cranky! You know, it's okay to disagree, but there's not need to be rude.

I've been playing a NB for nearly two years now, both in pvp and pve. I already pvp without cloak, and have been for months. The suggestions I made would be a better alternative than being skill locked every time you get close to someone with RML. Also, what you consider to be "*** over cloak even more" is highly subjective. I think there are many that would agree that my suggestions to cloak would make it a more versatile skill, and make it far more useful for every role in PvE as well.

It doesn't bother me if you disagree, honestly. However, a little tact goes a long way.

Also, I realize this is a necro post. But since the topic came back up, I thought it seemed appropriate to share my thoughts.

Urggh, you've touched on the most annoying thing with Shadow cloak that I would love to see fixed. Not knowing if you are in or out of stealth while the affect is on. So many times I've been in cloak, pulled myself out of combat and thought I had hit crouch only to pop out of stealth for everyone to see me when the effect ends.

If not, an Add-on that tells you if you are crouching or not would be awesome.....
