Really? You're complaining because you can no longer hoard gold by selling Daedric for 200k? Seriously?! You think THAT was normal?
I do think there should be some rare things, but old drop rates were ridiculous. When I got veteran, I thought I want smth special to make my new armor with, so I decided to farm for a motif. I knew they'd been nerfed, but figured if I try hard enough I'll find smth eventually. So I farmed for over a week, found over 1k lockpicks(I looted them, yes, for fun), dozen blue recipes, half a dozen trasure maps, a few hundred racial stones of all kinds, a few more hundred useless low lvl ingreients, a LOT of sneak-empty containers and...zero motifs. I think I spent over 24 hours farming total and looted quite a few thousands of containers. Rare is rare, but I think that was overdoing it.
I gave up after 1050th lockpick and bought Barbaric. Of course, a couple of days after that they issued a patch increasing the drops like 1000 times. Which sounds majorly like trolling - first motifs were very easy to get, then, just as some of us got there they were nerfed(it felt like they were removed altogether, after all that farming), then as some of us gave up and bought them, they were suddenly back=x I've found 5 or 6 motifs since the patch. Without much farming. Which is one one hand cool, on another makes me very sad to think of all the farming I did before that.

Imo, for it to be "rare" it'd be perfect somewhere in between current and old. Less than now, but at least SOME after 24 hours of farming.

It's kind of sad that the majority of the economy revolves around Motifs and Bites.

Bites? not so much. Those are pretty much being given away now.

Kids, candy tastes sweeter when you earn it and the low hanging fruit is usually not as tasty.

The first bit is why it needed to be changed though - too many players exploited the logging and until the rate change were exploiting the rest of the player base too. If making them less rare screws the exploiters then I think it's worth it. FWIW I search any container that I encounter in the normal course of playing and have still yet to find one of the big 4 so they aren't all that common :)

As for rarity there are still the droppable sets to find, gold crafted items are still not exactly common unless people used the duplication exploit & there are others things too... plus whatever rare content they drop in on new areas. So hopefully there can still be the rush of finding something rare coupled with the other rush of seeing the exploiters realise that they did it for jnothing.

The only really bright side to this issue... is they kept a harsh eye out for bots farming these motifs and because of which the gold farmers couldn't continue their market profitably with any of the rare motifs. So if this was a plan on Zeni's behalf to screw the gold farmers... then I support it!

I don't think the drop rate is affecting the market change so much, as it's more likely due to significantly more people having acquired them over time. As a result, there are more sellers because once players acquire one for each of their toons, they are now sellers instead of buyers when they happen upon another one. As well, as more players acquire them, there are less buyers.

In other words, the decreased demand has probably affected the market more so than the change in supply chain.

but there need to be rare things in MMOs... I hate that people felt like they absolutely HAD to have the daedric motif.

The outcry from this I'm afraid will send a message to ZoS that all things should be handed to players.

No rare mounts no rare pets? Nothing to get excited about?

    Agree.

Nerf the motifs to stop the bots, make it so you can't use any skills for 1.2 seconds after looting a motif.

I would have bought the Daedric Motif a while ago but the only reason I didn't is because I only have one daedric heart. I think they are as rare as the motif. I'm VR5 ATM and I have at least 50 each of the other ingredients for the other rare motifs. Are daedric hearts hard to come by or am I just unlucky? I know I haven't seen one person in light daedric armor in over 250 hours of game play and only a couple wearing heavy.

I've been finding a lot more hearts (and VR crafting mats in general) lately.

Personally I would rather have the economy revolve around custom crafting gear (motifs, traits, set bonuses, etc) and dropped set bonus pieces than around the single-use book that you unlock once and then never care about again.

The price gouges before this most recent patch that fixed containers were ridiculous. With the amount of gold sinks (especially for lower-level/new characters) is ridiculous enough without artificial sinks, like motifs. It punishes crafting characters who already have to sink most of their gold into space upgrades.

Besides, what the heck do you need 200k gold for?

    Yes, they were stupidly high.

Please note that the crash in prices is only bad for those who have been hoarding them, for the rest of us who merely want to get them and use them it's great.

Good work Zos, please keep the current rate for racial motifs.

It makes me sad to see so many people labeling anyone in game who is richer than them as either a botter, a gold buyer/seller, or an exploiter/cheater.

It's too bad that this angry mediocrity is a common attitude held by the MMO community. :(

Didn't call you any of those. I called you a hoarder, someone who hoards stuff, in this case to sell for obscenely high prices.

As for mediocrity, if mediocrity was a factor, you would be calling for those motifs to be bound, to prevent us mediocre players from getting them. Since you haven't asked for that, I'm saying hypocrisy.
