Game/Computer Periodically freezes while playing.

So I've been getting these small "lag" spikes while playing ESO where everything freezes for a few seconds (Sometimes it's only the game and sometimes it's my entire computer) which is odd because I have a decent computer and this kind of thing has never happened before. I'm typically in a voice chat with my friend via Steam while I play. I've done some digging around and it seems that this is a common issue with players but no one seems to know why/how to fix it. Can anyone help me out here? X,X

I had the exact same thing, It just freezes at random for about a second (sometimes longer) for no apperent reason.

Guildmates of mine have suggested it's windows Aero that is the problem (in my case it wasn't sadly) because of the problems with Fullscreen Mode. However in my case it had to do with the launcher causing FPS drops (in my case down to freezing point)

I came here to try and find a cure for it and the latter helped for me. but for anyone with the same problem try closing/turning off the above two things, perhaps it`ll help! Never hurts to try anyway

I would run a CHKDSK and click "scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors".

    Any spikes in processor consumption?

None that I'm aware of. As for the other suggestions, I'll see what I can do about them. Thanks guys!

My partner and I used to have this problem - after some research, we have been closing the Launcher that remains open after the game opens, and we have set eso.exe to High priority - have not had a single spike since.

closing the Launcher that remains open after the game opens, and we have set eso.exe to High priority.
That seems to have helped, though I havn't been on too long as of now so I'll post here again if my problem persists. Thanks!

Will give that a bash tonight! Close the launcher,I read elsewhere that you Go into the folder for the client you are trying to fix and locate the "usersettings.txt" file.

Open the file up in wordpad and locate the variable "RequestedNumThreads"
and set that to 0, no idea if that's legit though.
