Mundus Stones

ZOS, can we please have a description of what the mundus stones will do for us when we are in front of the stone, just like in Skyrim.

I don't think this is too much to ask and should take virtually no time to change.

Also, can the description be better than "Improves your armor"?

There is no reason to make us switch to a website for simple in game information.

Thank you.

If you want this change, please hit agree so this will get done.

I think he means it IS game-breaking lol.

OT: yup, totally agreed. Tooltips in this game need a lot of improvements IMHO.

Agreed it's an annoying to have to gamble whether the new mundus stones boost is better than the old. Especially if the old stone is several maps back.

When we click on the stone bring up a text saying what the new stone does, and ASK if we want to replace the old boost with the new. Minor change for maximum quality of life increase.

It's not really a gamble when you can look it up. And you only need to do it once to get the list of them all. But quality of life additions to game usually aren't remiss.

Yeah, the "increases stat" tooltip in the menu is kind of useless... how hard is it to add on "... by x%" at the end? And that tooltip should also appear when aiming at the stone before using it.

You guys don't understand that this is by design and shouldn't change. This creates immersion, and is by design. If you don't like it go play a more simple game like WoW!

PS: the above is a joke, but don't we see people who respond to other well thought out changes that make sense in the same manner...

This game is seriously lacking in the numbers department. I like to know the ins and outs of my character. I don't think I should have to use addons just so I know how much damage is incoming and outgoing. I don't think I should have to go to other sites to lookup the definitions of vague descriptions that don't use actual math and numbers.

Don't even get me started on % increases. Are they additive or multiplicative? What is it a % of? The base number? Your adjusted total? The game will tell me that an ability will reduce my weapon enchantment cooldown by 1 second, but it won't tell me what the actual weapon cooldown is to start with. That's kind of important information. I have traits that increase mundus stone effects by a percentage, but I don't know what the original number is that's being modified.

I find these sort of numerical omissions extremely off putting. This is the age of the internet. It's not like we won't find out what the numbers are so there isn't really a secret other than frustrating your players and forcing them to go out of game to find info that could easily be in game.

It would save me time having to alt+tab to look up what exactly the stone does.

    I agree to an extent.

I like to know my character's numbers so that I can work on improving them and, hence, my own performance. Anything having to do with my build, my gear and my enchants? I want all the information possible.

I am fine with there not being something like a group damage meter, though, as those can reduce a player to nothing but numbers, as has happened in World of WarCraft. (I know you didn't mention group meters, just throwing that out there while we're on the topic).

On the topic of Mundus Stones: I agree with the above sentiments.

Game doesnt show enough period. Death recap is useless when you don't know what the ability names are in the first place. Oh I got hit by Black Winter? Which one is that, the wave aoe or the force choke? Ive been hit by both at the same bloody time.

While were campaigning for tooltips how about a mouseover for the abilities in said recap? Does X damage and looks like Y.

You know, like ability tooltips in most games?

"You cast a shadowy bolt of energy at your target desling X damage and <snares/burns/concussez/what the hell else status effect >"

I begged and pleaded for this in the year long PTS beta.

Why can't we know what our resists are and exactly how they work? We just have one resist number, but there are multiple types of resists.

The descriptions are horrible in ESO. Yet, you had all these fanbois fighting to not know anything about their character.

I swear ZOS had to see this coming, yet chose the wrong way to go, as usual.

Even "simple" addition t a game take a time investment and give a potential to break other aspect of the game.

My sarcasm is intended to entertain me, but it is still an honest respond to the op. Some other games have embraced the idea of mode and websites to help the game. It make no sense that this game would be any different.

So, you fear it might break the game. :)

And time that it takes, even though a single person already made an addon that does this, is your second reason?

Well, I think I can safely say you are just wrong on this one.

It makes no sense to make players go out of the game. Talk about breaking immersion....

I have over 700 hours of Skyrim behind me and loved the game so much I signed up for online play - but the online game is nothing like the single-player version and is nowhere as much fun! You can't get immersed in a dungeon full of other players running around doing their own quests - it's complete nonsense. I am only level 7 but doubt I have the patience to work through monotonous tasks just to increase abilities so I can tackle bigger challenges - life is too short! I searched this post to find out what a Mundus Stone is, and where you find it. There is no mention anywhere about them except to argue the pros and cons of swapping them without knowing whether you are benefitting from the exchange or not. Are they marked on the map by any chance?
To be quite honest, I like the mystery of it all - you shouldn't be playing this game mathematically - or at least I hope the game designers prevent that sort of play style. I used to play Dungeons and Dragons, y'know, with dice and our imagination - and the DM would throw all sorts of confusion and panic into our game which is what made it fun and engaging. More importantly, you couldn't just keep on dying like you can in this game and try again - once you were dead, that was it unless someone in your team had a ressurrection scroll, and they were really rare to come by. My point is, all this fluff about stats ruins what should be a 'human' 'argonian' etc. experience, depending on your character set. The flow of the game should help to lead you to improving skills, armour etc. without you having to make conscious effort to 'check out my stats' before every battle. I never did this in D&D, or Skyrim, so don't intend to do it online. If the game scripts are too poor to provide 'opportunities' then I cannot see the game becoming very popular. As this is my first post, it's long. I'll be briefer next time ;0)

This is intentional: they wanted to discourage min-maxing, and therefore purposely made a lot of the mechanics invisible and opaque.

easy answer: If 90% of the users do not bother to test an ability and no numbers (or explanation) on how this ability is intended to work is provided -> it is very likely that it will take longer before we find out that its not working at all/ "as intended" and hence there is little less complaining in the forum.

I wonder if it is an addon, but the Mundus Stones tell me what the effect is. I thought it came from a patch recently. It does not tell me the numbers, I don't need to know the numbers.

I only have a small part of FTC and Slightly Improved Exp Bar that could be doing this. My other addons are related to crafting information.
