What is the total number of available skill points?

I've searched around, found wide range of answers, anything between 250 and 342 skill points, not including Craglorn.

Does anyone know for sure what is the total number of available skill points in this game?
I'd love an official response, I mean, takes a second to reply with 3 digit number ;) and I'm sure it'd make a lot of players happy.

... I don't know exactly, but 250 seems more than enough for me.
It was at least 300 - before Craglorn.
Opinions are like buttholes : Everybody has one, and they usually stink.

    3 things to reduce stamina/magicka imbalance :
    - Use magicka to block abilities costing magicka, instead of stamina.
    - Add % damage reduction to heavy armor.
    - Add block penetration to 2H.

Exactly 326.4 plus 6 times the quotient of x plus 42 times yz squared to the power of 1 divided by 0.

My V10 had 239 points spent, all but 1 available shard (1 point when he gets it), 8 unspent points, and 42 points left to be earned from PvP(?). He also needed to do VoM reg (1 point), and all 6 vet dungeons (6 points). So...

    239+
    1+
    8+
    42+
    1+
    6+
    = 297 pre-Craglorn

He also hasn't completed the VR 10 area which I am sure has at least a couple quest reward points in it. I would guess that it is pretty close to 300 points available pre-Craglorn. That is assuming that you get one point for each PvP rank.

Thanks for the breakdown but the problem is, that's what your char has and it's not what's available in the game.

Since I am sure there are things in the game supposed to give points but they don't (some group challenges do not give skill points, even though they should and even though they give an achievement for completing them), I'd like to know the official number so I can estimate how many I missed 'cos of bugs (or quest choices and such, like the (in)famous quest where you can miss out on 2 points).

1 skill point challenge per zone(public delves) so 16 skill points
101 skill points from skyshards not including craglorn
2 skill points from uncle sheo
61 skill points for leveling to v12
1 skill point per group dungeon so 16 skill points
Another 49 skill points from Alliance Rank (iirc)
Another 9 from "Main Story" quests.

That puts you at 254 skill points.

You can check a quest guide website to find out which "Zone Story" quests give skill points and add that number to 254.

    **EDIT**
Forgot the 6 Points form the Veteran Dungeons so 260 w/o "Zone Story" quests.
    **END EDIT**

I remember reading an 'official statement' that there were more skill points available in the game than you have character abilities for.

So in practical terms, it's more than you could possibly use.

I've seen the chat consistently 306-308 (depending on certain questline choices, so the min is 306).

Well my breakdown includes every available point in the game. What would be the point in breaking down my points if I didn't think that I had most or all of them? After reading some of the other posts, I see that I may have missed the ones for the public dungeon achievements since I mostly solo and I know that I did not get the extra one from the mage guild quest. I did, however, get the extra point from doing the PvP tutorial. So, without an official comment as to the exact number (which I don't think you will get), the best guess is around 300-316.

Why you would need anyone to be more specific I don't know. There aren't enough to get every ability in the game but there are enough to complete more than 2 builds with all different abilities and specialize in at least one crafting skill. My character is specialized in all of the crafting skills except enchanting. By that I mean that he has full points in all of them except enchanting. He also has enough points to fill 2 ability bars with morphed abilities and some extra abilities to trade out. That is why I haven't used those other 8 points. I am waiting to see where I will need them. That is with 247 points earned.

I think the whole point in not telling us the exact number of points available is that they want there to be some surprise when we find them. This gives some sense of adventure and encourages exploration. I doubt that they will give a specific answer in the near future to your question.

Why? Well, you know, I'm one of those who like to know exact numbers, that's all. I want to know what I can reach and be able to compare it to what I have.

I know that there is stuff in the game that is supposed to award points but it doesn't. Only by knowing the exact number of available points I can know how many 'awards' bugged for me.

By my calculation anything divided by zero is infinity.
