Anyone can use immovable, with or without heavy armor on.

Both give such massive bonuses of spell and armor that even with 50% loss on overcharge , you still get tons of defense points. However immovable is in the one hand and shield. 2h is nice but its skills dont pair as well with sorcerer like bow/staff/one hand and shield. 2h is great for nightblade and Dknight.

I'm using a 2H weapon and have been using heavy armor as kind of a battle mage/ magic and 2H weapon build.
Opinions please.
Nothing in the Heavy Armour passives is sword and shield specific, A couple of sword and shield passives might benefit Heavy Armour though.brandon.coker101_ESO wrote: »I heard that unless you use sword and board that there is no reason to go with heavy armor....is that true?
it is so definately unbalanced . soft cap on magica is broken as well wth reduction gear. Light armor all the way around seems to be the way to go DPS or tanking. Stamina is so F'd up it does not matter medium armor is all but worht less either way. purely from a number crunching stand point. But i refuse to tank in light so i am constanly Magica starved. Mitigation is only slightly better then cloth while blocking any howjesterstear wrote: »Purely looking at this from a defence/survivability POV , the difference between 5H 2L and 2L 5H is...
20% lower block cost with 5 Heavy
Spell Resist 15% better with 5 Light
With all the sword and shield skill line passives and one stamina regen jewellery item the block cost thing is not a factor. Spell resist in PVE solo? Not many mobs use magick, but if i'm going to die to a 3 mob pull, it will be because 2 of them are spell casters. Arrows and swords can be blocked with your shield. hmm.
Health Recovery 12% higher with 5 Heavy
Incoming healing 4% higher with 5 Heavy
Magicka Cost 7% better with 5 Light
Magicka Regen 7% better with 5 Light
At first glance, the above seem to balance out, but they don't really. First, the softcap for Health recovery is half what the softcap is for Magika recovery, so the Health recovery passive isn't worth as much as it appears. It also depends on the health healed : Magicka Cost ratio of your helaing skills. As a tanking Templar with low Magicka, mine are around unity, but you may be exchanging at a better ratio.
From an offence point of view, crits and spell damage , light armour is ahead obviously.
So, if the min-maxers are going with a full light armour build, what have they to say about the shield? Specifically, I know what a shield can do for you when you have all the passives, but as my sorcerer is low level, what are you giving up by not having a destro staff? AoE? CC?
