Templar 1v1 PvP build?

Hi all,

I love sneaking around Cyrodiil. I really enjoying questing out there, with the adding thrill of PvP. However I haven’t been doing too well with my rather squishy Templar and his PvE build.

I was wondering if anyone might suggest a build for such gameplay? I find myself losing quite often in 1 on 1 PvP. I know it’s mostly me and my old-man reflexes, but if I were playing a more optimal Templar build (melee or ranged) I might at least go 50/50.

Well, that really depends. Your own playing (blocking/dodging etc) will do a lot more for your survivability than any gear ever would. Also, grab some of the combined hp/sta/ma pots, those things are incredible.

1h/shield is really strong right now, I'm not sure how much they will nerf bash in tonights patch but it'll still be a strong spec regardless.

You probably want a ranged weapon too. I prefer Bow for my playstyle (solo/duo) but destro/resto staves are also viable options.

I sometimes swap Volcanic Rune (bow) for Venom Arrow, Ice Comet (bow) for the Soul Magic ult and Invigorating Drain (1h) for whatever i feel like at the time, all depending on the situation.

Thank you both for posting good builds! I should have enough skill points to try both out.

@Dudis‌ I've never used a Bow before, and haven't seen many in PvP. It'll be fun to try.

@murphy1337ub17_ESO‌ I've also never seen a DW Temp in the field; it looks like a blast. Mind my asking the armor you use? 5H/2M? Vice versa? Also, in your link I don't see the Javelin, but think I saw it in your video. Did you take it out of your build?

I have taken the javelin out. That was in there when I was first trying out the build. The build I linked is what I will typically use for all situations. Anything else you see in videos is setup more or less for a specific situation, or I'm testing different things out. I'll have another DW vid up tomorrow that I think shows the build I linked better. I wear 7 medium, but any armor variations would probably work with the build.

That depends really... I prefer the medium armor bonuses for what i do.

Here's an "old" (relatively) recording of a run with me just ganking people with my bow a few weeks after release. Some things have changed, like not having Mist Form anymore frees up a slot on my bar for something else.

This is why I like Templars: there are so many fun builds!

I'm still struggling between a melee build (2h or DW, argh, can't pick), and a ranged (Resto) build for my 1v1 PvP build....

I play a NB so i cant suggest what to use but i can tell you the best 1v1s i have had come against some shield templars that also swap back and forth to restro staff. i have actually found the really good templars to be tougher than DKs.
