Disappointed About Lack of Respec Cost Reduction

I was really hoping for a reduction to the cost of respecing. I had hoped Zenimax ignoring the numerous, active threads on the topic didn't mean they were ignoring the issue, but I guess I had more faith in them than I should have.

Just because some players have an issue with it doesn't mean that it's a necessary fix. Or that it's something that even needs fixing.

What is really amazing to me is that it can now be clearly seen that individual skill respecs are very easy to do. Since there are a number of them done in this update. It is just a shame that Z/B won't put this into the game so that players might actually have the 'freedom' to make their character 'the way they want to play'.

Respec is supposed to be a rare case but if you want to do it daily its entirely your problem :smiling_imp:

I have yet to see a good argument against it. I personally know three people who have quit the game because their characters became "stuck" in an unviable build and they couldn't afford to change it and I have seen many more say the same on various gaming forums.

The high cost of repairs, respecing, and inventory/bank upgrades is what primarily drives people to buy gold, and only one of those has been addressed (and still may not even be enough, depending on the actual numbers).

Or, stay with me here... they may actually intend respec to be a rarely used feature, and when they say "the way you want to play," they intend for players to make choices that matter. I know, sounds crazy.

There are a ton of skill points available. If you don't like your build, go grind out some gold to respec or grind out some levels/quests/skyshards to get more points to invest into something else you want to try.

The high cost of respec is terrible IMO. We should be encouraged to explore, not paint ourselves into a corner. Why should a respec be rare? What harm would it create if we could respec often?

It would allow complete exploitation of the crafting system, encourage build homogenization, and generally create the idea that choices in this game are meaningless.

How?, if you take your time and look at your options, then it's quite hard to create a totally Unviable build.

As for the arguement, I have yet to see a decent arguement for a reduced respecc. Not against it, just haven't seen a good arguement for it.

This is an issue? I find repec costs to be on the low side, especially since you get an obscene amount of skill points and don't even need to respec to change your build/playstyle. Spend some skills in a different line, throw some new abilities on one or both of your hotbars and get to work.

I'm really not convinced by the idea that there are totally "gimp" builds unless you do something totally ridiculous or refuse to diversify your character at all. A couple of times I hit a brick wall and by experimenting with skills and changing things up I was able to pass the content that was causing me a problem.

Actually, high respec costs create build homogenization. if the cost is so prohibitive that one doesn't even consider it an option (as many do in this game), then they will seek out a "proven" build before hand to minimize the risk of screwing up.

Low respec costs empower the exploration of unique builds.

Actually, most people don't look up builds online ever. Most people create their build as they go. And if they run into issues with morph choice (the only possible reason you'd need to respec), they have to weigh the cost of a respec against their desire to have a different morph of that skill.

There's a contradiction in your logic. If most people don't look up builds online, then how are they all homogenized by respecing? It feels like you're just constructing an argument on the fly just for the sake of arguing because you don't want lower respec costs for personal reasons.

    My point still stands.

I am fine with Respec cost like they are but I feel they need to offer more choices.

    1. Full Respec at 100 gold per skill point spent.
    2. Full Morph respect at 150 gold per morph skill point spent.
    3. Individual Skill refund at 600 gold per skill.
    4. Individual Skill Tree Respecs at 200 skill point spent in that tree.

Those four options will great. Still costly enough to be a gold sink but allows for mistakes to be fixed.

Surely you understand not having the ability to respec at all would, and I say this without hyperbole, kill the game, right?

Punishing game mechanics of ye olden days do not draw enough players to support a $100+ million MMO.

    Actually, once again, your wrong.

What about the points you put in your research? Once you done all your research you may well feel you don't need them. What about the bugged abilities? What if you simply wish to try something different? Your having in all likelihood to pay for a full respec for the sake of maybe a fraction of the points you wish to move. Maybe no more than 50% since as you say it may be more likely to just change the morphs.

Just because you don't agree with peoples posts, does not mean they are wrong. 4 threads I have seen in less than that many days, I have seen you use exactly the same tone, with exactly the same goal. Just trying to cut people down and broadcast how superior you think you are and how inferior everyone else is who does not agree with you.

Why even bother coming to the forums if you can't handle opposing opinions? And are not even able to offer any interesting insights, any enlightening or helpful info?

Ah, the trick I found is looking for sources of filled ones from mob drops. So far I think there is a dungeon/cave in each area that has them drop regularly from mobs that are about the level bracket of that zone.

EDIT: Just occurred to me. I did a public dungeon the other night, and I came out with more filled soul gems than I went in with. Maybe worth a check on that avenue too.
