We are currently investigating connection issues some players are having on the European megaservers. We will update as new information becomes available.
Ok, I'm saying it: the megaserver sucks.

What's the problem on having different servers with different "game modes"?
Like for example, servers with PvE in hard mode where grouping is almost mandatory or incredibly hard to do it on your own.
And servers with open wolrd PvP and a PK system from zone 2 or more..
And of course, the normal servers that we all know and love BUT without having to deal with flying arrows over invisible people.
Imagine the posibilities! Everyone could play the way he likes the most, and the servers would be so much less laggy..

✭✭✭✭✭I haven't had lag issues, and I like not having to shop around for the ideal server. So nope. It's a good step forward, and it'll only get better as they refine the technology behind it.----

Couldn't agree more. It runs fine for me, and it saves me a huge hassle of OCD in trying to pick the perfect server for me.2 -
siledre✭✭✭I like the megaserver, too often in the other MMO's you will have dead servers which ends up being a waste since they eventually have to combine them and then people get all pissy about it.0

The maintenance times killed the game for me, the phasing issues, the general everyone crammed together in instances... can't dodge bots, Lag issues, ping time issues.
If when i buy any other games in the future it says mega servers i'm putting it back and walking away.1 -

Unlike all the other major MMOs that have Oceanic servers. Like...
You're not complaining about something unique to megaservers. You're complaining that Australia's ISP tariffs and laws are too restrictive for American companies to want to go through the hassle of setting an Oceanic server up.----

Pintobean✭✭✭I wasted all 7 alts to play with family and combinations of family, due to phasing. They all are gone, so the alts are free do develop. Yeah me! This is the best single player game I have ever played, with random REAL people in and out of the game, never to be seen again, but making my single player experience unique and refreshing for each alt.
Originally I hated the megaserver concept, now I kinda like it. Give it a few more months to grow on you.0 -

I just wish the Aussies would stop believing that "Oceanic" means just them. You have *** internet from your Telestra or whatever its called. I play from Japan, have very little latency or connection issues. Same with a friend in Singapore. You scream, whine, and threaten in every connection-based game I've played over the last few years. Even when they give you your own servers (SWTOR comes to mind) you can't maintain a playerbase to offset the cost. Realize that you live at the bottom of the world, with *** physical connection to the rest of it. Take all the rage and pent up energy you put into the "We deserve our own servers now!!!" posts, form a game company and launch the very first Aussie created MMORGP and laugh at the rest of us when we complain about bad lag to the Oz based servers.1 -
zeuseason✭✭✭I really like the megaserver actually and with the phasing technology, it's a top notch game experience. I do, however, agree that there needs to be tweaks to make it better.0 -
Alpha_Protocol✭✭✭I live in the USA. If I was playing a game that was hosted in Australia I would expect to have ping issues. None of the other things you mentioned has anything to do with the megaserver. They are game design decisions. If this one's not for you, there will be others.

Well it just sounds like the problem is where you live, not the game itself. When they move the EU servers maybe it will improve.
Mega-servers are the wave of the future and I think are much better. No worry's about server population, generally the maintenance is easier for the company.
