DK's are nerfed really hard with the new patch. DK Fire Mage or Shield build is dead. Inhale useless

Here are some of the DK nerfs from 1.1.2 Patch notes that will screw DK’s over quite a lot…! While the other classes recieves buffs/fixes:

Inhale before the nerf:

GG on nerfing the already subpar ability into useless

They have tons of nerfs to class abilities like Inhale, Talons, destro abilities which had synergy and gave magicka regen, 1 hand and shield bash, all nerfed into the ground.

Inhale is expensive to cast, and is capped at 3 absorb targets with the nerf.

The Inhale absorb deals 70 damage to players! 70! to a player with over 3000 health They didn't even adjust the cost, they just made it pointless and expensive to use.
It even seems they confused Batswarm with Inhale, and nerfed Inhale as well lol.

They nerfed class abilities like Inhale into useless and expensive because Destro + Resto was OP with elemental drain and magicka back from DoTs, toggles etc... That is shortsighted.



The many DK nerfs:

“Decreased the amount of ultimate generated by area-of-effect damage spells.“

“Fixed an issue with several area-of-effect abilities where they could erroneously hit an unlimited number of targets.”

“Dark Talons: Reduced the overall radius.”

“Inhale (and morphs): This ability’s initial life drain morphs can now hit a maximum of three targets. This also applies to Inhale’s morphs.” (this ability is now really weak and expensive, 3 target AoE on absorb...)

“Elemental Drain: This passive ability’s magicka restore will no longer erroneously trigger on damage-over-time ticks, or multiple times for a single ability cast.”

“Impulse: Increased the Magicka cost of Impulse and its morphs.”

"One Hand and Shield
Deadly Bash
Fixed an issue where the damage bonus coupled with a “bashing” jewelry enchant was doing too much damage.Slightly decreased this ability’s stamina cost reduction."

"Bashing now deals more damage on a successful interrupt, and less damage when your target is not casting an ability."

"Fixed an issue where bash/interrupt could be used more frequently than intended when it was repeatedly engaged."


They had good synergy with Destro staff, that is gone.
They depended on Impulse, Elemental drain (magicka return) which made it work without running out of magicka in seconds and DK's were strong with. They also depended on AoE ultimate gains and Talons having decent radius. Now all that is gone.
They also depended on Bash doing melee damage, I agree with the shield bash nerf, but 3 second cooldown, huge nerf to damage *and* higher cost on Bash/interrupt? Was this really needed to be nerfed into the ground?

DK shield builds get shafted as well, with both AoE and class nerfs, and Bash damage nerfed, and bash costing more.


The fire mage builds/AoE DK builds depended on Destro staff Impulse, elemental drain magicka regen etc to work, otherwise they run out of magicka in a few seconds and sit there stupid getting kited with zero magicka regen, while sorcerors Escape Bolt around (which now also stuns AND absorbs spells) and have the same superior magicka regen as before.


With all these DK nerfs and nerfs to everything they had synergy with, they have no use and can't do it even remotely close any more. And they have zero 28 meter range abilities, like the rest. They are stuck in melee.

Talons smaller radius is a huge nerf to the class' unique ability as well, what is unique with DK now? Poor magicka regen, stuck in melee range getting kited by Sorcerors/Templars, and mediocre/expensive Inhale AoE hitting 3 targets? lol
They need to balance classes, not nerf everything to the ground.



All this makes the current DK Fire Mage/Inferno build with Destro/Resto or any 1 hand and shield builds you see running around (the DK builds that are actually strong), nerfed to the ground, and then some.

DK's have huge magicka issues with these nerfs, and will run out of magicka very quickly because they can no longer get any magicka back from Elemental Drain which made it all possible, while Sorcerors (and NBs) keep their superior magicka regen still



Time to reroll Sorceror folks! The master class Sorceror with a BUFFED Escape Bolt that now absorbs spells while blinking around! Making them invincible at the same time!

    It's not shocking the DK's are going to complain that they cant stomp on everyone without an issue anymore.

    The only direct DK nerf that I see is the inhalation nerf to 3 targets. The rest are changes to all classes (ultimate, bash etc)

    Z/B continues to travel down the same old, tired road that all the amateur MMO companies have traveled over the last 15 years.

    In the end, the only ones playing this game will be the Speed Hackers, Teleport Hackers, Z-Plane Hackers, and Bot Hackers. They seem to be the favored population; untouched by nerfs.

    Until the console version launches, of course. Then it will be Same-Old, Same-Old, all over again.

    Don't see why I'm reading shock into your post. Go to youtube and search for DK soloing Craglorn delves and you knew the nerf bat was gonna swing hard.

    The reason for DK's being "strong" for many, is not because of the class abilities itself, but synergy with Impulse spam, getting infinite magicka back from Elemental drain + DoT's + cinder + inferno giving them more magicka back than they can spend. And AoE abilities giving tons of ultimate, which is also nerfed now.

    DK's are stuck in melee range with 5 meter range abilities, while Templars and Sorceror have range benefits. This is a devastating nerf to the DK class

    It'll make AoE grinding/farming tougher, but it felt kind of ridiculous pulling 2-3 groups of mobs in public dungeons anyway. I can see how that would reflect poorly on Craglorn if it was still possible like davidgawronrwb17_ESO mentioned.

    Doesn't mean I won't miss it though :(

    Dark talons radius kinda sucks, it's nice for tanking and keeping trash close to you and off the dps/healer. I don't necessarily mind the nerfs to soloing, grinding and powerleveling but it makes it a little bit harder to tank.

    I'm currently playing a DK and I'm 100% good with all the changes. Even more so, I love the fact they buffed Burning Embers and makes me want to play my DK more. I don't play a staff build and I do use Inhale on one of my builds and I'm good with 3 mobs.

    Not being able to spam shield bash will probably save you stamina in the end. The damage on a successful interrupt was increased...

    They didn't take impulse or elemental drain away. Every class-build that use them will be affected... somewhat. I doubt it will make a big difference.

    If we see fewer video's of DK's roflpwning content.... that'll be considered an improvement.

    DKs got magicka regen from elemental drain + DoTs + Cinder ticks + Inferno ticks. This no longer works, and Impulse cost is increased.
    Magicka will be a huge problem for DKs after this nerf :)

    As a DK this nerf does nothing to me or my play style. I never relied on any of these lines because I knew that this day would come. I will still play how I am, I will still be an asset to my team, I will still be a threat. I consider this an acceptable nerf.

    Inhale nerf was over the top, that change has "mythic dev" written all over it. Depending on the damage reduction for a non-interrupt bash, that skill may be screwed as well, which will make 1h/s completely useless.

    I rerolled from DK, didn't think they were all that OP then, still don't now that I'm playing against them on a different class. Dropping two standards back to back was a bit much, but DK isn't the only class that can do that, and they just needed to make talons blockable.

    Seriously.....

    DKs are the best class. They are still the best class after these minor nerfs.

    You won't have to change your build at all. Its just slightly less over powered now (but DKs are still head and shoulders above every other class.)
