We did show plenty of reasons, actually ive spent months on this forum and the old forum giving reasons, the DEVs themselves gave reasons... now the game has been released and i was hoping the no arena QQ was going to stop.

    How naive...

PVP WILL NOT BE CHANGED. CYRODIIL WILL REMAIN THE SAME. IF YOU LOVE CYRODIIL THEN YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT BECAUSE IT WON'T BE CHANGED.

Seriously. Do you people even read what I write? I'm not asking for ANYTHING to be changed, I'm asking for something totally seperate to cyrodiil to be added. Do you know the difference?

PVP won't be changed? haha. You're dreaming if you think they introducing an entire new section of pvp that would bring new balance issues and a need for rewards to fit that style of play, wouldn't change the current pvp situation. If you really believe that, I have a bridge for sale. It'd also hurt pve because they'd have to balance even more around it.

Look at the big picture instead of your proposed bubble.

Cyrodiil quest hubs arent that different from open world pvp btw. The feeling is pretty much the same, hunt while hunted.

Really Cyrodiil already offers everything, as long as you are willing to look for it.
What some people want is instanced encounters, exactly the opposite of what TESO offers.

I agree. I think the crowd shouting for open world PvP are really looking for a means to gank players in starter zones. Cyrodiil provides the means for open-world combat, all time PvP. But everybody has to agree to it.

The small-scale PvP crowd? Not as well supported. Sure, a 5 man group could run into another 5 man group, but it's not nearly the regimented structure many are looking for.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

I'd rather keep pvp to large scale.

I personally love large scale pvp. I don't think they should copy WoW and join the club of games that make Arena mandatory for all of its players. I don't know if you've played World of Warcraft and Star Wars The Old Republic(dear lord it's bad), but I don't want anything to do with Arena.

    how is arena mandatory?

This is where things get complex. What do you consider 'balance'?

Is balance where each class can go toe to toe with any other class, between players of equal skill, and come out even? Sounds great, but this gets more and more difficult the more skills you add into the equation. Then you take into consideration an archer and snares versus a melee tank. Or destro staff templar with self heals versus a sorcerer with pets.

Games that attempt to achieve this balance generally make every class the same, with different animations and colors. Customization is sacrificed for balance.

How about small team versus small team? Well not everyone is a team player, and as many games have shown, sometimes it's just easier to stack four invisible, sneaky rogues and group shot each enemy player till they are no more. Common practice learned in other games that would find it's way here. And since each class in ESO can fulfill multiple roles simultaneously, making each fight have different classes wouldn't help.

Games that attempt to achieve this balance are very weak to team stacking and flavor-of-the-month builds that defeat the purpose of teamwork entirely.

Plus, you cannot balance all players. Better PC? Faster internet connection? Closer to the server? Got a small dog or your kid running around distracting you? Have to keep your voice down cause your landlord is a pain? No MMO mouse and gamepad to make macro swapping easier? Maybe you just suck?

So inevitably, there will still be calls for 'broken' and 'overpowered' in even the simplest games (in example, World of Warcraft) no matter what the devs do.

Even the rock-paper-scissors approach fails, as seen in Neverwinter Online. You might be great at killing a tank, but weak against rogues. Guess what is overpowered to you. Guess what you'll complain about every time.

Nature of MMO's. There is no right answer to balance.

Quite honestly, I think the game is perfectly balanced becuase of all the extra skills we can switch out.

I think each class on it's own can use some tweeking, but not compared to the other classes, but compared to how hard or easy it is to play pve.
Games that attempt to achieve this balance generally make every class the same, with different animations and colors. Customization is sacrificed for balance.

Most MMOs the classes are static. ESO is the exception.
Games that attempt to achieve this balance are very weak to team stacking and flavor-of-the-month builds that defeat the purpose of teamwork entirely.

The FotM fear is already happening.

I know you say it will get worse.

    I disagree.

People are already posting stats, videos and all sorts of pvp information to call for nerfs. It is crazy.

I just don't think arenas or Dueling will make it worse.

I guess I trust ZOS not to screw up the classes too much because of all the extra skills out there.

And ZOS knows this as well.
So inevitably, there will still be calls for 'broken' and 'overpowered' in even the simplest games (in example, World of Warcraft) no matter what the devs do.

Again, ESO is different because of all the powers that are out there. Classes are not set in stone.

Another one that believes devs when they try to shift the blame from themselves. Probably because devs are so trustworthy.

One things I've noticed a lot in this thread is people panicking because WoW arena's sucked and the balancing therein would heavily affect PVE.

Now, let's say you play a warrior in WoW, and they remove hamstring or gimp it in some terrible attempt for balance.
In WoW you would be tremendously nerfed, rage onto the forums because your class just got gimped, oh my god barbeque q cookies and such.

Now, let's imagine you play a Dragonknight in ESO, and your burning talons get altered, so they now tickle your enemies instead of actually rooting them.
It's disappointing, sure. But it's not the end of your class. There are still several other skill-lines that are available and produce rooting effects on their own. For example the archery bombard ability.

With the freedom to actually pick alternative skills, balancing ESO for arena's would be a lot easier. We are so much more then our class in this game!

I wish people would realize that this game is not WoW, and that classes are nothing like the classes in WoW. So most panic in regards to balancing issues ranges from blown out of proportion to simply wrong.

I would enjoy small scale PVP from time to time, where the opponents I face are roughly my equal in power. I can understand if other players prefer to zerg in huge groups and gank smaller groups silly. And that's fine too, no-one will take that from you.

    We can have both.

And you think anyone will want anything to do with arena? PVP is always a fraction of the player base, and arenas are even less.

    It's another option.
I couldn't care less if it's called arena, battleground, warzone, nth dimension, ... . Structured and instanced PVP. ESO's Huttball version. A chance of applying for a PUG in a controlled environment (no chance of zerg). Player Vs Players instead of Player Vs lynch mob.

It is so small that at the beginning TESO was PVP only (DAOC style RvR) but then they realized that they weren't gonna last long with 10K subscribers and they added PVE
