Metallurgy for Blacksmithing, What is the Max Number of Items You Can Research At One Time?

Metallurgy, under the Blacksmithing (Crafting) skill tree says it will allow up to two items to be researched at one time plus a reduction in research time; however thre are 3 levels to this. I have the first level (1/3) and as such can research two items at once; if I add another will I only get the time reduction bonus (I think 5%)? Or can I research 3 items at once?

    3/3

You will have a reduc of 20% and will be able to research 3 at once.

PS: That also goes for the wood/cloth crafts also.

    Yeap.

    lvl 1 and 2 , you can research 2.

    lvl 3 , research 3.

    Thank!!!

Last question; are these useful? I'm leery of committing points to them as ultimately there is a finite number of items to research; and even given the max research time, its still just a matter of patience. Thoughts?

There are 272 traits to research (8 per type, 34 types). From one POV, Your bank will drown in items, slowing you down, from another POV, once you run out of items to research it's pointless. Choose your POV :).

Hmmmm.... Actually, only 122 if you're purely doing Blacksmithing and Metallurgy :D

I personally find it worth it as it cuts down on total research times immensely. Ultimately you will end up with lots of skill points and those three won't affect your build. And worst case, if they do, it is possible (albeit expensive) to respec.

Just think of it this way, without that skill, have you worked out how many days it will take to research all traits on all items?

    One item fully researched = (6 hours +12 hours+1 day+ 2 days+4 days+ 8 days+16 days+32 days) = 63 days 18hrs

    14 items, all 8 traits = 892.5 days

Once you have finished all research you can always then release the skill points then.

@natjur is that at base rate or taking into consideration the discounts?

Also is that researching 1 item at a time or the fact you can research 3 traits with the right passive?

That the base rate, 1 item at a time, as you can see, its nuts, getting the researching 3 traits at a time and the 20% bonus speed = a lot of saving

892.5 days can be dropped as low as 238 days (if you do it perfectly)
