Class skill lines & melee skill lines are separate. You can be whatever you want and use whatever melee weapon you want. Doesn't hurt to play around with a few types of weapons.

Well, DK can be melee or magic. People roll DKs with fire staffs and use the flame magic, or roll it like a tank with sword and shield, or whatever.

i have played as a NB to vet 5...honestly my DK is having such an easy time compared to my poor NB, dragons blood is just...over powered and their flame skills along with destro staff is quite powerfull

How to DK.

1. Wear Heavy Armor
2. Spam Talons
3. Proceed to spam shield bash
4. Profit

I've heard that heavy armor is useless due to soft cap being reachable with light armor (via armor enchantments and the like)?

But if I go sword + shield, what do I put my points in? It was indicated earlier I should put points into flame if I go into Destrostaff, what about s+s?

I mix Heavy and medium on my DK. Stamina and crit for days. Sure you could use enchantments and traits to reach the armor cap, you could also have a lot of other benefits.

I use all 5 ardent flame abilities, get the dunmer racial for more fire magic damage, heavy armour, for dest-staff always get fire, wall of elements, weakness to elements, one hand and shield is good as a secondary, and then just let everything BURN!

I just hold fast, kite a bit, and just keep hitting with all the fire I can.
But thats just my set-up for a heavy'ish DPS, I'm sure there are other good fire related set-ups. I find it works pretty well, but I'm only level 40 so far.

I have an Archer/DK build. Use bow for both weapons single target/aoe . Under single target use Venom arrow,magnume shot,burning talons,fiery grip,dragon blood, Ult, Standard of Might. For range targets Venom,fiery grip,magnume shot,fiery grip again(interupts them doing this way). Melee Venom, burning talons, magnume, fiery talons, auto attack if low on magicka or stanima.
For Aoe action bar other bow Arrow spray,burning talon,scorched earth,dragon blood, spike armor Ult Standard Might. Cast scorched earth, run in cast burning talons, drop ULT if its up (Standard Might), recast burning talons, anything that survives Arrow spray or auto attack. A passive must is Kindling adds to any fire damage. Use fire bow for both bows. Atrtibutes a little of magicka, and more on health, and stamina. Armor wear leather for stamina regen and passives. Most Archers use Nightblades. I rather this build with burning talons, spike armor, and dragon blood more survival. I really enjoy this build you might, also.

Yes. Yes they are.

And I don't know about whether Dragonknights are the best class, but I do know that my favorite classes to play so far have been DK and Templar.

That's kind of funny because the only two classes I have played so far have been Nightblade and Sorcerer and I am having tons of fun. So I guess I have lots more fun to look forward to when I make a Dragon Knight and a Templar!

DK may be considered the best class until this weekend when there is an update with balancing done for some classes.

simple answer: use everything til you find what you like in 5+1 buttons, if you like 10 skills be ready to ~ like a meta[bot], just dont forget mettles and that sub-smart watch, or your meta[bot] will ignore you, or was that heroman:/
